Callum Hudson-Odoi has held contract talks with Nottingham Forest as Premier League rivals consider making a move for the former Chelsea star.

The 24-year-old scored five goals and registered three assists last term as Forest qualified for European competition for the first time this century.

But with only one year left on his current deal, there is interest developing in Hudson-Odoi, who has recaptured some of the form that made Bayern Munich try to sign him, when the winger was still at Stamford Bridge.

Hudson-Odoi was an integral part of Forest’s excellent 2024-25 off the pitch as well as on it, where he became one of the most influential players in the squad and a key figure in harnessing the team spirit that helped Forest outperform expectations.

He was signed for only £3million two years ago and is now worth substantially more, though Forest are already close to losing one of their key attacking players from last season, with Anthony Elanga poised to join Newcastle in a £55m deal.

Accepting an offer for Hudson-Odoi would mean reconfiguring the attack, with Forest already in the market for at least one winger.

23-year-old Elanga is said to be excited about the prospect of working with Eddie Howe and there is a recognition on both sides of the scope for improvement under the guidance of the head coach and his staff.

The Sweden winger also has a good relationship with compatriot Alexander Isak and his best friend is William Osula, Newcastle’s back-up striker.

If the deal does go through this week, Elanga would become the club’s first signing of the summer.

The hope is that he will be followed by a goalkeeper, centre-back and forward.

Manchester United, Elanga’s former club, are also owed an estimated 15 per cent of the profit from any sale.

He joined Forest for £15m in 2023 and has scored 11 times from 82 appearances.
