I get bored with eating the same food every day, and I need to have something different for my meals.

And with limited choices near my home and office, I run out of food options rather quickly.

As such, I turned to food deliveries to get my food fix.

However, I would spend a lot on them, especially when delivery fees on some platforms surge during peak periods.

It made me turn to other people to join my food orders so that it would not hurt my wallet too much.

Still, there are days when I’m either alone, or my friends and I sadly have different cravings.

Many of my friends have also turned me down, citing high delivery fees as one of the issues.

So I took matters into my own hands, especially with Deliveroo’s monthly subscription, Deliveroo Plus.

Enjoying alone

Under Deliveroo Plus, you get numerous perks like 10 per cent off all Vivino orders (great for a wine night alone or with friends) and special discounts from certain stores.

However, the biggest draw is the unlimited free deliveries on all orders above S$15 which is seriously not hard to hit when you treat yourself to that side/drink you wanted.

With the free delivery option, it was a no-brainer for me to order my lunch on the way home from a morning hiking session.

I usually would have made my own food, as the delivery fee could have made ordering in cost more than what I would be willing to pay.

Under Deliveroo Plus’ free delivery, I get to enjoy free delivery for all stores offered, unlike other platforms that would limit discounts to specific stores or only offset a portion of the delivery fee.

That’s right—free delivery for every… single… store.

This makes my post-hike mala meal even more value for money and its large portion lasted me two meals (so I spent about S$11 for two meals, girl math).

Ordering food by myself has also given me a newfound appreciation for eating alone.

I do not have to worry about finding the perfect store that fits everyone’s preferences or giving up on what I want to eat for others.

I can also enjoy my food and not miss out on my yap sessions at lunch with my friends.

And if I feel like I need a mental health walk, I can also choose to pick up my order and still enjoy discounts exclusive to Deliver Plus members.

Besides enjoying 20 per cent off at certain stores, I even get to skip the lunchtime crowds? Issa win to me.

Spread the joy

And now, let me share the joy with you so that your meal times will be injected with convenience and variety.

While Deliveroo Plus is usually priced at $12.90 per month, Deliveroo is offering new-to-Plus customers a new deal.

From Jul. 1 to Jul. 31, customers can enjoy all the benefits of Deliveroo Plus for six months at only S$3.99 per month.

Averaging the delivery fees across all platforms to be S$4 per order and you order in ten meals a month, you would have saved close to S$216 in six months if you subscribe to Deliveroo Plus now.

While it is not difficult to hit the S$15 minimum spend and I can continue to enjoy the free deliveries, I thought others could benefit from it.

So, I decided to share the joy of my free delivery fee with my girl friends and treat them to a cup of coffee to make their day better.

See, good things must share.
