The highly-anticipated third chapter of the legendary rivalry between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano was streamed live on Netflix from Madison Square Garden, and the fight certainly lived up to its epic billing. As the co-main event on the all-women’s card, their fight was the primary attraction on one of Netflix’s most high-profile live sporting events yet.
The rivalry between Taylor and Serrano has been steeped in controversy, as questionable scoring decisions and several in-ring incidents have yielded conversation and uncertainty. After co-main-eventing the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight in November 2024, the final fight in their trilogy of combat was intended to end the controversy.
Coming into the fight, Amanda Serrano was the betting favorite despite Taylor having won the first two fights, which spoke to how unclear the outcome would be going into the fight. However, after 10 rounds, we know who took home the unified light welterweight title that was on the line for Taylor vs. Serrano 3.

Katie Taylor Was Declared The Winner Of Netflix’s Live Boxing Match
She Officially Adds Another Victory To Her Record
Taylor was declared the winner of the fight, with one of the judges viewing it as a dead even score, while the other two had Taylor ahead by two points each. That’s enough for a majority decision, although the fact that one judge had them tied speaks to how even the final contest was.
Following their third fight, Katie Taylor now has a professional record of 25-1 while Amanda Serrano’s record sits at 47-4-1.
There was a fraction of the total punches landed from the first two fights, as both fighters adopted a completely different, more conservative strategy. After two explosive contests, the two fighters were much more guarded, trying to win intelligently than leaving it up to a slugfest.
Amanda Serrano said after the match that she was “working smarter not harder” after being unsuccessful in the first two fights, and while she noted her team believed she won, there didn’t seem to be any ill will. The theme of the night was indeed celebrating Taylor and Serrano’s contribution to the world of boxing, and how they truly helped put women’s boxing on the map.

Taylor Won By Majority Decision
The fight started off slow, with both fighters feeling each other out in the first round and only three total punches connected, which was a stark contrast from their first two fights. Serrano established herself as the aggressor early with her jab, but was very intentional about maintaining her distance, likely to keep away from any errant Taylor headbutts.
The action finally picked up in Rounds 3 through 5, with a flurry of punches exchanged at different junctions. Serrano led on the unofficial scorecard after five rounds, although neither fighter established the upper hand for herself.
In Round 6, the two fighters began exchanging punches at the rate we saw in the first two fights, with Serrano landing some heavier shots but Taylor landing more total shots.

Through nine rounds, the momentum seemed to have shifted in Taylor’s favor, although there was still no major moment for either fighter that would give them a meaningful advantage on the scorecard. Taylor’s strategy of staying patient and countering Serrano’s more aggressive pursuit proved effective in the later rounds as Taylor began to earn the edge.
The final round saw both fighters attempt to apply the pressure with some hard shots, both knowing that the scorecard was close enough to come down to a judges’ decision. Nothing of major consequence occurred though, and the final bell rang without too much wear and tear on the faces of the competitors.
There likely won’t be a rematch between Taylor and Serrano, as audience interest likely peaked with the completion of their trilogy. Trilogies between fighters occur when there is good reason to, either from an entertainment standpoint, personal tiebreaker scenario or title interests, but a fourth fight between two of the same fighters is uncommon.
On top of that, Taylor essentially ended the rivalry by winning the third fight, and both fighters have said this was the final contest between the two of them. Controversial or not, she technically won all three fights against Serrano, so there is little left to be solved in the ring.
