An Arsenal star is reportedly set to be offered a new deal that will increase his weekly wages

An Arsenal star is reportedly set to be offered a new deal that will increase his weekly wages without extending his time at the club.

The player in question has just two years left to run on his current contract but the Gunners are claimed to have offered him fresh terms.

The Athletic reports that Leandro Trossard has managed to secure a pay rise while his deal will still expire in 2027 – as a result of Arsenal previously said to have acknowledged that his role within the team is not reflected by his contract terms in comparison to some of Mikel Arteta’s other key players.

The publication adds that it is unlikely the Belgian international will leave the Emirates Stadium before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

Per salary tracking website Capology, his previous deal was claimed to earn him £90,000 per week – with his new wages still unknown.

Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 in a deal worth £27million and has scored 28 goals to go with 23 assists in 124 games for the north London club.

The winger’s new deal comes amid speculation that Arteta has been keen to pursue another wide option having already signed Noni Madueke in a £52m deal from Chelsea this summer as cover for Bukayo Saka.

One potential target is Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, who was an unused substitute in their 1-0 win over Osasuna on Tuesday night.

However, Los Blancos manager Xabi Alonso has downplayed the Brazilian’s absence, which he said was due to tactical reasons.

He stated: ‘These are match decisions. The way the match was going, we needed another profile. There have been no decisions for the future.

‘Nothing is going on. The Club World Cup was a different context because of the competition it was. Today it’s just one game, we can leave the rest behind.

‘What counts is this season and of course I’m counting on Rodrygo. It’s just one game, we shouldn’t read too far into the future.

‘If he gets those minutes in three months’ time, I’ll be able to answer you with more certainty. Today it was just the circumstances of the game and my decisions.’

Any potential incomings for Arsenal are likely to have to come after sales of fringe players such as Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson.

Arteta’s side are next in action  on Saturday afternoon, as they welcome Leeds United to the Emirates for their first home Premier League game of the season.
