Following its teaser announcement earlier this year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 made a big showing at the 2025 rendition of Gamescom Opening Night Live. The annual, monolithic FPS series is releasing a direct follow-up to last year’s title – but it’s also a sequel to Black Ops 2. Black Ops 7 is launching November 14, so its marketing run-up is now well underway with live preorders, special editions to consider, and a beta on the way.
Developed concurrently with Black Ops 6, BO7 takes the subseries’ story further ahead in time than it’s ever been, beyond Black Ops 2 to 2035 to follow the story of David Mason. The first taste of the game that the public will receive, however, is its multiplayer via the beta in October. The beta period will run from October 2 to October 8, but the first three of those days are reserved for those who have attained early access.
How To Get Black Ops 7 Beta Early Access
Play For 3 Days Longer
Early access to the beta begins at 10am PT/1pm ET on October 2. There are two ways to ensure you have early access to the Black Ops 7 beta:
- Preorder any edition of Black Ops 7
- Have an active Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass PC subscription during the beta period
Preordering any edition (more on the editions below) in any format – digital or physical – will entitle you to early access to the beta, according to Activision. The cheaper alternative, if you don’t already have a Game Pass subscription, is to sign up for a single month of Ultimate or Game Pass PC, depending on your platform.
PlayStation users are out of luck with this latter option, but you may be able to preorder Black Ops 7, participate in the early access beta period, then cancel your preorder before you’re charged, but mileage may vary depending on the retailer.
It’s worth noting that Black Ops 7 will be launching day one on Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass PC. The beta and full release are cleverly scheduled more than a month apart, though, so you’ll have to purchase more than a single month if you’re planning on playing both.
Black Ops 7 Preorder Bonuses Explained
Cosmetic Challenges
Many preorder bonuses may be dependent on the retailer if you purchase a physical copy, but Activision is offering special cosmetics if you buy digitally. Preordering a digital version of Black Ops 7 grants you access to the Reznov Challenge Pack, which unlocks a series of challenges that reward you with character skins upon completion.
The Reznov Challenge Pack objectives become available in Black Ops 6, Warzone, and then Black Ops 7 when it launches on November 14. You gain the Reznov SOG skin immediately, then must complete the following challenges to unlock two more Reznov skins:
Skin |
Challenges |
---|---|
Reznov Stalingrad |

Reznov Memory |

Aside from early access to the beta, the Reznov Challenge Pack appears to be the only preorder bonus for Black Ops 7. However, Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass PC subscribers have access to the same bundle. All you have to do is log into Black Ops 6 or Warzone any time before November 14, then ensure your subscription remains active.
Black Ops 7 Vault Edition Differences Explained
The Lone Special Edition
The standard game goes for the usual $70, with one special edition option in the Black Ops 7 Vault Edition for $100. Preordering the Vault Edition brings all the benefits delineated above: beta early access and the Reznov Challenge Pack. There are a number of other items included in the Vault Edition, though they’re all digital, since there is no physical version of it.
First, you get four character skins. The Karma, Harper, T.E.D.D., and Reaper EWR-3 skins can be used in the open beta (provided you preorder the Vault Edition in time), Black Ops 7 when it launches, and in Warzone once Season 01 begins after the new game launches. Available to Vault Edition purchasers at the same time are five accompanying weapon skins:
- Blank Certainty Bleuprint for the Peacemaker MK1 assault rifle
- Authorized Destroyed Blueprint for the Dravec 45 SMG
- Dire Experiment Blueprint for the M10 Breacher shotgun
- Ballistic Scyth3 Blueprint for the VS Recon sniper rifle
- Shock Blade Blueprint for the Flatline Mk.II melee weapon
The Vault Edition also comes with the first BlackCell Battle Pass. Having the BlackCell grants you 1,100 COD Points, the abillity to skip 20 battle pass tiers, and content exclusive to BlackCell purchasers. Single-use Ultra GobbleGum consumables for Black Ops 7‘s Zombies and a Permanent Unlock Token for any multiplayer progression item are also included in the Vault Edition.
If you have Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass PC and are interested in the Vault Edition items, you can upgrade to the Vault Edition for $30, though your subscription must also remain active to play. Call of Duty‘s preorder bonuses and special editions are lighter than a lot of other games, but it’s just as highly anticipated as ever. Even without a preorder, though, you can play Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 before it releases during the open beta period.
