Here’s when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will tie the knot, according to wedding experts

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce broke the internet when they revealed their engagement to their millions of adoring fans.

On Tuesday, the couple – who have been together since 2023 – revealed the news in a post shared to their respective Instagram accounts.

‘Your English teacher and gym teacher are getting married,’ Swift captioned the carousel of images from the intimate proposal.

In the post, the Kansas City Chiefs player, 35, was seen kneeling down in a garden surrounded by flowers as he held the billionaire pop star, also 35, in his arms.

The post also gave fans a close-up glimpse at Swift’s vintage-inspired diamond engagement ring, which is estimated to have cost $550,000.

Over the last two years, fans have fallen in love with Swift and Kelce’s unlikely romance – which began when the NFL star made a public declaration for the singer on his New Heights podcast.

Since then, Swift has been seen supporting the football player at two Super Bowl championship games, while Kelce has shown his support by dancing in the crowd at Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour shows.

He even inspired Swift’s hit song ‘So High School’ from her Tortured Poet’s Department album, as she attached the track to her Instagram post of their engagement.

Although fans have grown to love the pair, it’s the dedicated ‘Swifties’ – the nickname for Swift’s fanbase – who were even more elated to see their favorite musician finally find a lasting love.

It’s no secret that Swift has had her fair share of romances and devastating breakups, most recently calling it quits with British actor Joe Alwyn in early 2023 after six years together.

Perhaps that’s why there’s so much excitement surrounding the singer’s highly anticipated nuptials, which is sure to be the wedding of the century.

Between the NFL season kicking off in September and the release of Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, in October, it’s likely the pair won’t tie the knot this year. 

According to Sarah Hanlon – celebrity and entertainment editor of The Knot, an all-in-one wedding planning resource – fans can expect the couple to say ‘I do’ within the next two years.

‘Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship timeline is actually quite relatable, especially when compared to our data,’ Hanlon said, citing The Knot’s 2025 Real Wedding Study.

Their research found that 30 percent of couples date for two years before getting engaged, the exact amount of time Swift and Kelce were together before he proposed, as well as the average engagement lasting 15 months.

‘If they follow this timeline, that would lead to a November 2026 wedding,’ she said.

But with their busy schedules, it’s far more likely their wedding will take place sometime in the spring or summer, said Lauren Grafer Schweibold, the founder of Madison Events based in Greenwich, Connecticut.

After all, Swift has notably kept a very low-profile this summer, making the season the perfect setting for a top-secret wedding.

Plus, Swift is already the owner of the ultimate summer wedding venue: her $17 million beachside mansion in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. 

Coincidentally, Swift has plans to renovate her Rhode Island home, perhaps to accommodate a wedding in the future.

The singer is reportedly planning a $1.7 million overhaul, which includes a 400-square-foot expansion, according to a building permit and zoning certificate obtained by Us Weekly in January.

The renovation will see one of the estate’s 11,000 square feet transformed into an ‘enlarged bedroom suite and lounge.’

Additionally, Swift – who bought the property in 2013 – is eyeing a new bedroom for the main house and a complete kitchen remodel.

Celebrity wedding planner Michelle Durpetti agreed that Swift’s Rhode Island mansion is a ‘strong contender’ for the venue because it offers ‘both privacy and flexibility for a large-scale event.’

However, Durpetti maintained that Swift may choose a destination wedding ‘given her love of travel and romantic settings.’ 

‘I wouldn’t rule out an international destination wedding, somewhere steeped in history and beauty,’ Durpetti said, offering up popular wedding destinations in Italy.

‘I’m currently obsessed with Puglia, and a Borgo Egnazia buyout would be absolutely fabulous,’ she said.

‘A wedding on Lake Como would of course be breathtaking, but something a little less expected feels more her speed. Imagine something extraordinary in Tuscany – Castiglion del Bosco comes to mind. 

‘Italy offers so many romantic, unforgettable choices that feel tailor-made for a love story of this scale.’

Speaking on his New Heights podcast earlier this year, Kelce explained that he wouldn’t want to get married in the autumn because it’s the peak of football season.

‘I actually don’t know people who’ve gotten married in the fall because all the weddings I’ve been to and all my friends always do it in the summer,’ he told his brother and podcast co-host Jason Kelce.

‘You gotta be willing to find a weekend where the team isn’t playing anybody good maybe,’ he joked.

‘I’ve seen weddings in f***ing February. I’ve seen weddings everywhere but the fall. So I’m not sure if the fall was a good wedding season,’ Kelce added.

Of course, the number one question surrounding Swift’s nuptials is what type of wedding dress she’ll wear as she walks down the aisle.

The singer has been known to wear some daring fashions on the red carpet and on the stage, but over the years her go-to designers have typically been Versace, Louis Vuitton and Oscar de la Renta.

Meanwhile, style expert Liz Teich recently told the Daily Mail that she may go for Elie Saab. 

However, Swift also loves to support smaller brands, as she did with her old-mine diamond engagement ring made by jewelry designer Kindred Lubeck. 

Danny Seo, the publisher of Bridal Guide Magazine and the chief lifestyle contributor on The Drew Barrymore Show, told the Daily Mail that Swift will likely choose a wedding gown that reflects her sophisticated yet bold style.

‘Taylor’s style is going to be feminine, ethereal, with a little bit of an edge,’ he said. 

‘It’ll definitely be white and I can see her creating a bespoke gown either with a legacy designer like Monique Lhuiller or Reem Acra, with the chance she could go rogue and work with a luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton to make a super custom gown.’

As for her wedding jewels, Seo predicted Swift will ‘lean into older gemstones but not antique pieces’ on her big day, much like the vintage style of her engagement ring.

Although Kelce opted for an intimate proposal by popping the question at his home near Kansas City, Missouri, both the wedding planners agreed that Swift and Kelce’s nuptials will be quite the opposite.

Because Kelce and Swift have waited years to find ‘the one,’ it’s likely their nuptials will be as lavish as their headline-making romance.

‘This will likely be one of the most star-studded weddings in recent history,’ Durpetti said. 

‘Still, Taylor has always valued her inner circle and privacy, so while the list will feature A-list names, I anticipate an intentional guest experience that feels more curated than crowded. 

‘It won’t just be about the size of the list, but the significance of each guest invited to witness their story. 

As for the cost of such an exclusive event, Schweibold noted that high-end weddings typically start at ‘a million plus.’

And that’s just for the cost of security. 

For the Eras Tour alone, a report from the US Sun claimed Swift spent a whopping $30 million on security to keep her safe during her string of shows across Europe.

‘While costs for ultra-luxury weddings can range into the millions, I expect her to balance spectacle with sentiment,’ Durpetti said.

‘For her, it won’t simply be about opulence, it will be about creating a celebration layered with personal meaning, thoughtful details, and unforgettable experiences for her and Travis’s loved ones. That’s where the true value will be.’

Whatever the couple decides, Swift’s fans will be eagerly waiting to see all of her wedding plans come to fruition on the singer’s big day.

In fact, Swifities couldn’t help but share their emotional reactions to news of her engagement on Tuesday afternoon.

Underneath her Instagram post, one user commented: ‘Literally crying for my close and personal friend Taylor Swift.’

‘They look gorgeous together,’ another person said.

‘OMG CONGRATS TO THEM!!!’ a third user wrote, while someone else commented: ‘From concerts to touchdowns, now wedding bells! Truly a match made in heaven.’

Within minutes, their joint post received likes from stars like Sabrina Carpenter, Vanessa Bryant and Kelsea Ballerini.

Kelce’s close friend Patrick Mahomes was also quick to congratulate the couple, sharing Swift’s post on Instagram with three love-hearts.

Even the NFL reposted one of their engagement photos, along with a message of congratulations.

Aptly, in the wake of the announcement, the title of Swift’s hit song ‘Love Story’ began trending online.
