Wednesday star Hunter Doohan addresses Tyler’s cliffhanger and his future after the end of season 2. The second season of the hit Netflix series follows Wednesday Addams as she returns to her school, Nevermore Academy, where she navigates her family, new mysteries, as well as the students at Nevermore. Wednesday season 3 was renewed ahead of season 2’s release.
In an interview with ScreenRant‘s Grant Hermanns, one of the stars of Wednesday Season 2, Hunter Doohan, who portrays Tyler Galpin, addresses why his character trusts Isadora.
When asked why he thinks Tyler takes the preposition that Isadora comes to him with about joining a Hyde pack where you do not need a master to survive, he mentions how his character was dying, and Tyler did not have anything to lose at that point. See his comments below:
Yeah, I think he’s kind of lost everything. He knows he’s gonna die now, because in episode 5, he didn’t know what was happening to him, that he would die and lose touch with reality without a master. But in episode 8, he knows that both his parents are dead, for sure this time, and he knows he’s gonna die. So, I think he’s kind of got nothing left to lose, and he’s a little unwilling to trust her. I think he’s still not fully trusting her, when we see them driving off together, because he’s been burned by older women before.
In Wednesday season 3, there are many stories that still have to be told, with most of the characters’ fates left wide open. In particular, Tyler’s fate remains unclear after he is seen leaving with Isadora who reveals that her own father was a Hyde, and tells him about a pack that he can live in without needing a master.
When it comes to Tyler in season 3, he will most likely be living in a new community, with a pack of Hyde’s who are not tied to a master. The fact that Wednesday decided to spare Tyler at the end of season 2 may also be brought into season 3 somehow. The show may also further explore the motivations behind Wednesday’s decision.
Doohan’s take on why Tyler accepted Isadora’s preposition during Wednesday season 2’s ending makes sense. It did seem as though Tyler possibly did not have any other options, and although he may not have truly trusted her and what she was saying, as Doohan said, he did not have much to lose.
We will definitely see where the decision to take Isadora’s preposition takes him, and whether it was a wise choice for him in the third season. While Doohan did say that Tyler was skeptical of Isadora and unwilling to go with her, telling him about her father being a Hyde and bringing in that personal part of her life might have been a factor in him deciding to go as well.
With season 3 confirmed, all these questions will be answered, and viewers will be able to see what happens after Wednesday season 2 left all of its characters on such cliffhangers.
