Brand New Day' Filming Hit With Massive Blow

Tom Holland has been hospitalized after a stunt went wrong on the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the actor’s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker. The incident occurred on Friday at Leavesden Studios in Watford, England, where production on the enormous and highly anticipated Marvel-Sony blockbuster is underway.

According to reports, Holland sustained a mild concussion after cracking his head in a fall. The 29-year-old actor was rushed to hospital by ambulance, where he was treated and later released. While initial reports suggested nobody else was injured, it was added by some that another person, believed to be a stuntwoman, was also taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.

Production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been suspended while Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios assess the situation. Newspapers in England report that a meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow to decide how the production should move forward, while the Health and Safety Executive may also investigate the incident, given the scale of the accident.

How Long Will Tom Holland Be Injured?

British outlets note that Holland’s father, comedian Dominic Holland, confirmed at a charity dinner in Mayfair that his son will be away from filming “for a while.” Tom himself attended the dinner alongside co-star and fiancée Zendaya, even posing for photos before leaving early after reportedly feeling unwell.

Injuries are never welcome at the best of times but this is a big one for Sony, and they need all hands on deck for this movie as it’s the biggest they’ve launched in some time. The previous installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), remains the studio’s biggest box office hit ever, with $1.91 billion in global ticket sales. Brand New Day is also crucial for Marvel Studios, as it is the MCU’s only feature release before Avengers: Doomsday arrives in December 2026.

While Jon Watts helmed Holland’s previous three Spider-Man films, this latest entry comes from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton. The cast includes other Marvel big hitters like Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk) and Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon returning as franchise regulars. Newcomers include Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Tramell Tillman (Severance), while Michael Mando reprises his role as The Scorpion from 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

For now, production remains paused at Leavesden, and Holland is expected to take several days to recover. The studio has not indicated whether the July 31, 2026 release date will be affected, so stay tuned to Collider for all the latest news and updates on Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
