If you're dating in Florida or Nevada - beware. You might just be falling for someone who's more into your wallet than your heart

If you’re dating in Florida or Nevada – beware, you might just be falling for someone who’s more into your wallet than your heart.

A new nationwide study has revealed the top five US states with the highest concentration of ‘gold diggers’.

Both Florida and Nevada tied for first place scoring a staggering 8.24 out of 10 on the ‘gold-digger index.’

The rankings, compiled by divorce-coaching app SplitUp, analyzed everything from the number of millionaires and billionaires per capita to the frequency of Google searches for ‘sugar daddy,’ ‘marry rich,’ and ‘sugar baby.’

It also tracked behaviors on dating apps and the average income and cost of living in each state.

The results point to a clear trend how in certain states, love and luxury are intertwined.

Trailing just behind Florida and Nevada are Texas (8.23), California (8.07), and New York (8.04), rounding out the top five places in America where attraction and affluence collide.

‘I literally would’ve named the same five states if I had compiled my own list. Florida and Nevada are stereotyped as having more transactional dating cultures, especially in Miami and Las Vegas,’ said matchmaker Blaine Anderson to the New York Post.

‘I’ve had multiple clients in both of those cities tell me that they’d previously met women who mentioned something like, “I’m looking for a man who will cover rent,” on first dates.’

Perhaps not surprisingly, the states topping the list are also home to booming real estate markets, luxury nightlife scenes, and high-visibility wealth.

‘They combine high concentrations of wealth with lifestyle-driven dating cultures, so the pursuit of love and luxury often goes hand in hand,’ said Emyli Lovz, a dating and relationship expert and cofounder of matchmaking platform emlovz.

‘Where luxury lifestyles are visible and accessible the line between affection and ambition gets even blurrier,’ Lovz added.

The data shines a spotlight on Miami and Las Vegas as epicenters of what Anderson calls ‘financially-incentivized dating.’

She said the pressure to present luxury lifestyles through flashy clothes, expensive cars, and ultra-exclusive venues creates an environment where ‘high-value partners’ are evaluated by income first and chemistry second.

While the term ‘gold digger’ remains loaded and controversial, both Lovz and Anderson insist that the trend is not necessarily about exploitation but rather about intention.

The study didn’t just rank the glimmering gold-rush states – it also revealed where those simply looking for love over money may roam.

The bottom five states, where residents are statistically least likely to prioritize wealth in a partner are Maine, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska and Vermont.

With their rural charm and slower pace of life there also fewer ultra-wealthy residents.
