Taylor Swift explains how 'nervous' Travis Kelce gave away proposal before getting down on one knee

A “nervous” Travis Kelce almost gave away his surprise proposal to Taylor Swift.

The “Fate of Ophelia” singer, 35, gushed about the moment she got engaged on Monday night’s episode of the “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

After congratulating her on the engagement, Fallon brought up how Travis proposed after filming his podcast, “New Heights,” with his brother, Jason Kelce, and Swift.

“I think, for Travis, the podcast was just sort a distraction, sort of ruse, to keep me not looking out the windows of the house,” the singer pointed out.

“Every time he does the podcast, it’s not like he blacks out all the windows,” she explained, recalling that there were “fully blackout drapes on every single window of the whole house.”

Thinking he was just “really serious about” giving her the privacy to do the podcast, she knew something was up when she noticed his nervousness.

She said, “I kinda realized that he’s walking around sorta nervous about the podcast, [saying], ‘My heart is racing. … I know how much this means to you. I just really want this to be what you’d hoped it would be.’

“Because we’d been talking about doing the podcast and announcing the album. And he’s like, ‘My heart’s just racing.’ I’ve never seen this dude nervous. Ever. He’s professionally not a nervous person.”

After filming the podcast, Travis asked Swift, “Do you wanna go and just walk around the backyard and have a glass of wine?”

“I’m always gonna wanna do that,” she told Fallon before pointing out that it was then she realized that he was going to propose.

On Aug. 26, the “Honey” singer and Travis announced they were engaged after two years of dating.

At the time, Page Six exclusively revealed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 36, had proposed with an old mine brilliant-cut sparkler designed by jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine.

Also, during her sit-down with Fallon, Swift shut down the claim that she brought up her own engagement during her speech at Selena Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco.

She also denied rejecting a Super Bowl offer because the NFL wouldn’t let her own the footage.

Swift did, however, confirm that Ed Sheeran found out about her engagement via social media but only because  “he doesn’t have a phone.”
