I’m being snarky, of course, because nothing you’re about to read will surprise you — given the current state of leftist looniness in Oregon, which is beyond disgusting.
Let’s first go bottom-line, then proceed to backhoe and fill.
Oregon’s far-left Democrat government plans to spend more on free health care for illegal aliens than it will allocate to the entire state police force in its current budget cycle, state documents show.
Between 2025 and 2027, officials expect roughly $1.5 billion in combined state and federal tax dollars to fund health coverage for “undocumented immigrants” (illegal aliens) while just $717 million is slated for the Oregon State Police over the same period.
The state’s health agency, the Oregon Health Authority, expects to allocate $1.2 billion to the program — originally named “Cover All People” and now called the “Healthier Oregon Program” (HOP), according to an email it sent to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Translation: Far-left Democrats in power in Salem — the state’s capital — believe it’s twice as important to provide “free” (taxpayer-funded) healthcare to people who entered this country illegally, and now refuse to leave, than on state-level protection of law-abiding Oregonians.
Shocked? Me, neither.

The federal government will supply 25% of the funding to provide health benefits to illegal aliens in Oregon, the OHA told the DCNF.
The data emblematizes some of the Democratic stronghold’s policy priorities — facilitating illegal immigrants’ access to health care and reducing criminal crackdowns. These very policies have touched off a government shutdown in Washington, D.C., and protests in Portland.
Spending on health services for illegal aliens in Oregon has climbed by at least 1100% since the program’s introduction roughly four years ago.
Call me “uncaring,” my Democrat friends, but that last paragraph is unconscionable.

According to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), noted the Daily Caller, federal funding for illegals in the state is limited to emergency and pregnancy-related care, as mandated by U.S. law. However, OHA budget documents reveal that the state secures unrestricted federal dollars—free from federal prohibitions on aiding undocumented immigrants—through clever accounting maneuvers.
Again, try to control your shock and amazement.
Oregon bolsters its pool of state Medicaid funds, which operate without federal restrictions on distribution to illegals, by imposing what it calls a “tax” on hospitals (gaming the system), which functions more as an accounting workaround. The state collects this “tax” from hospitals and then leverages federal matching funds to reimburse the hospitals in full for the amounts levied.
Shady?
Incidentally, illegal aliens in Oregon are not required to provide proof of long-term residency in the state in order to receive the taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits, according to state resources.
