'Bosch' Fans Show Amazon How They Feel About Cancellation as Show Soars on Prime Video

Fans want Harry Bosch, and they’re making their voices heard about it. Despite being one of Prime Video’s most acclaimed and consistently performing franchises, Michael Connelly’s Bosch universe has been cut short, but fans are fighting back, as the show has stormed its way back into Prime Video’s Top 10, showing that the appetite for more Harry Bosch is as strong as ever. The numbers speak volumes: audiences still want Titus Welliver’s detective front and center, not sidelined for cameos in spin-offs, or worse, not at all.

In early 2025, Prime Video abruptly ended Legacy after just three seasons, leaving major storylines unresolved. The finale didn’t even close the book — instead, it acted as a backdoor pilot for the Maggie Q–led spin-off, Ballard, signaling that Amazon’s focus had shifted toward expanding the universe rather than preserving its foundation. Now, Ballard has been a huge hit for Amazon, and recently was renewed for a Season 2, but conspicuously missing from the announcement was Welliver’s name, despite his recurring role in Season 1.

In Ballard, Welliver’s Harry Bosch appears in only a handful of scenes, mentoring Renée Ballard (Maggie Q) on a cold case that connects to one of his old investigations. He pops up here and there, offering advice, doing the dirty work, and helping Ballard dig into the LAPD’s corruption. It’s a thrill to see him again, but it’s bittersweet — because every glimpse of Bosch only reminds viewers of the show Amazon abandoned. Welliver has openly expressed disappointment about Legacy’s cancellation, echoing the frustration of the fanbase. His willingness to keep playing Bosch only underscores how baffling Amazon’s decision really is.

What Is Titus Welliver Making Now?

Welliver has signed up for a new MGM+ show, The Westies, alongside J.K. Simmons and Tom Brittney. Set in 1981, The Westies follows the Irish gang that took over Hell’s Kitchen during the construction of the Jacob Javits Center. The group’s power grip over the docks puts them in direct conflict with the much larger Gambino crime family, setting the stage for a dangerous alliance.

“What it really is, is a story about the Westies,” Welliver said,

“In 1981, there was the building of the Javits Center. And of course, the Irish — the Westies — controlled the docks, and they controlled the west side. But the Gambino family, of course, had their own hold on the union. So there had to be a kind of meeting of the minds there, despite the fact that the Westies were outnumbered by the Gambinos 100 to one. They were formidable and they were tough. And of course, the Gambinos used them for hits and things like that, so sort of this odd marriage.”

The Westies arrives on MGM+ next year. Bosch: Legacy is on Prime Video now.
