As part of Collider’s screening series, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re partnering with KimStim Films to offer readers the opportunity to see Manas, which was one of Brazil’s final frontrunners to represent them at the 2026 Academy Awards. The drama is co-writer, director and producer Marianna Brennand’s narrative feature film debut, and since its world premiere at Venice Days 2024, where it earned Director’s Award, the film has gone on to garner the support of last year’s Best International Feature Award-winner Walter Salles (I’m Still Here) Sean Penn and the Dardenne Brothers as executive producers. Julia Roberts also showed up in support of MANAS, hosting a special screening of MANAS alongside Penn. Read on for details on how you can enter for a chance to win tickets to this screening.
Manas follows 13-year-old Marcielle (Tielle), played by Jamilli Correa, a 13-year-old girl from Marajó Island, in the Brazilian Amazon, finds herself unable to be heard in a world that silences violence against women and children. Too soon, she awakens to the pain that has plagued her family for generations. When Tielle decides to take control of her own destiny, she forever shifts gears on the reality imposed on her. The movie also stars Fátima Macedo, Rômulo Braga, and Dira Paes.
