Netflix is celebrating Stranger Things Day in style with an exclusive premiere for fans, and they’re revealing five minutes of the first episode of season 5.
In a Stranger Things 5 Premiere Transmission, Netflix is hosting a virtual watch party including a red carpet, cast interviews, surprise appearances, and a sneak peek at the final season of their sci-fi adventure. Fans could RSVP via the Tudum website to gain an all-access pass to the exclusive event.
Stranger Things is a global phenomenon and one of Netflix’s most successful series. So far, the series has won multiple Primetime Emmy Awards, with a total of 113 wins and 308 nominations. At the time of release, Season 4 became one of the most-watched English-language shows of all time on Netflix, with 140.7 million views and 1.8 billion hours viewed.
The cast have spoken about their feelings regarding the final season as they say goodbye to their respective characters. Finn Wolfhard, known as Mike Wheeler, spoke about Mike’s new sense of purpose in the last season, and “it ended in the best way” for his character. Director and Executive Producer Shawn Levy spoke on the red carpet and stated, “It’s the greatest TV finale I’ve ever seen.”
Caleb McLaughlin is feeling a bit more melancholy about his character’s trauma during the final season, as Max is left in a coma following their showdown with Vecna during season 4.
Netflix has also announced its spin-off, which will be an animation titled Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 with The Duffer Brothers returning to fill in the gap between season 2 and season 3’s timelines, featuring Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Max, and Will.
Season 5 of Stranger Things is releasing Volume 1 on November 26, Volume 2 on December 25, and the finale on December 31. The finale will also be released in select theaters, giving fans a chance to watch their favorite characters in a way they never have before.
