Wisconsin Man Stabs Another Man When He Sees Him With his Ex-Wife on Halloween

A Wisconsin man has been charged with attempted murder after he saw his ex-wife with another man at a Green Bay bar on Halloween.

A criminal complaint says that the victim in the case went to the Hammer Inn Pub & Grill on October 31 with a friend and saw Robert Goodletson, the friend’s ex-husband, inside when they arrived, the Green Bay Gazette reported. The victim said Goodletson began yelling at him, so he walked over to speak with him. Goodletson grabbed him, he said.

The victim said he somehow got away from him but didn’t know how and walked outside, where he was told he was bleeding.

Police had been called to the scene by a witness who reported the stabbing and said that the suspect had followed the victim outside. Officers arrived to find the victim with several deep stab wounds to his side and a large cut on the side of his head.

The officers made contact with Goodletson, who didn’t follow commands. He was ultimately arrested, and officers noted blood on his hands and a knife in a sheath on his belt.

Goodletson apologized to the officers for “what he had made us go through,” saying he acted in self defense and that the victim was having a relationship with his wife. He also said he had a concealed weapon permit and that “we were lucky that he didn’t kill the guy.”

The complaint says that surveillance video shows Goodletson watching the victim walk through the bar and yell “No f****** way!” as he gets up from his stool and walks “rapidly” to meet the victim.

Goodletson is seen removing his knife from the sheath in the video then stepping toward the victim and shoving him against a wall. The two men struggle before someone pulls Goodletson off the victim and toward the entrance. As he nears the door, Goodletson is seen swinging the knife while people guiding him toward the door step back and yell, “Put it down!”

Goodletson appeared in court on Tuesday and was ordered held on a $250,000 bail. He returns to court on November 18, WLUK said.
