Chad Michael Murray has slammed the 'terrible' One Tree Hill scene that he 'begged and pleaded' to not be in

Chad Michael Murray has slammed the ‘terrible’ One Tree Hill scene that he ‘begged and pleaded’ to not be in.

The actor, 44, famously starred as Lucas Scott on the beloved series from 2003 until 2009 and briefly returned in 2012.

Now, over a decade on, the Gilmore Girls alum has opened up about the one scene of the show that he was not a fan of.

During a recent chat with People magazine, Murray slammed the now-infamous moment where a dog stole the heart that his character’s father Dan Scott (played by Paul Johansson) was supposed to receive during a heart transplant.

The scene showed Dan sitting in a wheelchair in the waiting area of the ER when the doctor transporting the organ tripped and fell, spilling it onto the ground.

Suddenly, a canine, who’d accidentally consumed marijuana, picked it up in its mouth and ran away with it as Lucas and Dan both watched on in horror.

‘It was one of those scenes where I remember I begged and pleaded, “Please, I don’t need to be there. There is no need for Lucas Scott to be there,”‘ Murray said of the controversial moment.

‘[I said], “If you really want to do it, fine. Go ahead and write the scene, but it’s terrible.”‘

Murray went on to pick the scene apart to the outlet, jokingly adding: ‘All things are very possible, I guess.’

He pointed out that it was weird the dog was in the ER in the first place, sarcastically stating, ‘If you were at home, and you were making pot brownies, as one does, and you fell asleep, and your dog happened to get into said pot brownies and ingest of the entire tin, first thing, of course, you’re going to do is take him to the ER. You’re not going to take him to the vet. Why would you take him to the vet?

‘And of course at the ER, they’re going to say, “Hey, you can’t bring your dog, but you know what? We’ll help you out. We’re going to take a look at your dog. We’re not going to send you to the vet. No, we’re going to let the dog chill out here.”‘

He also poked fun at the fact that the heart was being brought through the ER and not through a loading dock, and that it didn’t have a lock on the case.

The actor admitted that he still laughs about it ‘all the time,’ adding, ‘The scene went down in infamy.’

It comes months after Murray shared a harrowing story about a near-death experience when he was a teenager.

During an appearance on the Great Company podcast in August, he said that back when he was 15 years old, he lost ’50 percent’ of the blood in his body and was ‘on [his] deathbed.’

He explained that his intestines became twisted, and he was suffering from internal bleeding.

He said he didn’t remember much from that experience as he was going ‘in and out of consciousness’ and had to undergo emergency surgery multiple times.

And at one point during his near-death, teenage experience, the Freakier Friday star said that he saw his father talking to a priest about last rites at one point before his nurse gave him a blood transfusion to save his life.

He explained that his organs shut down because the blood coagulated around them and he had to undergo a second surgery to ‘clean up’ around them.

The actor added that during those weeks in the hospital, his weight had dropped from 180 to a 118 pounds.

A few years after making his recovery, he made his big break and started landing major roles in hit teen dramas.
