Ariana Grande has revealed that her upcoming Eternal Sunshine arena tour, kicking off next year, will be her last for the foreseeable future

Ariana Grande has revealed that her upcoming Eternal Sunshine arena tour, kicking off next year, will be her last for the foreseeable future.

The One Last Time hitmaker, 32, has admitted that her pop career has ‘taken over’ her life and that she is finally learning to prioritise other passions.

Ariana insisted she will ‘give it her all’ during the tour as it is ‘like one last hurrah’ before she steps back from international touring.

Speaking on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, the Wicked star said: ‘I’m very excited to do this small tour. But I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time.

‘I’m going to give it my all, and it’s going to be beautiful, and I’m so grateful. I think that’s why I’m doing it. Because I’m like, one last hurrah. For now.’

Ariana, who released her chart-topping album Eternal Sunshine in March 2024, is set to embark on her first major tour in seven years next summer, performing across the US and Canada before bringing the show to the O2 Arena in London for 10 nights.

The singer admitted her decision to step back from touring comes after finally recognising how consumed she became by her pop career.

‘That’s something that is learned over time,’ she explained. ‘For me, when I came into all of this, and my pop career sort of took over my life in a way, I didn’t have that at all.’

She added: ‘I just am feeling a lot more connected to myself and my art since I started doing different things.

‘I spent so much time only doing pop music, but I grew up as a girl who loved musical theatre and comedy, so I think the thing that will be best for my soul and for my art is chasing things that feel very right in the moment, even if it’s spontaneous and something different.’

Ariana has increasingly pivoted towards acting in recent years, most notably starring as Glinda in the Hollywood adaptation of Wicked, opposite Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey.

She is currently filming Fockers In-Law, the next instalment in the Meet the Parents franchise alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.

‘It’s a role that I read the script [for] and I love it and it’s funny and I love the cast and I’m so excited,’ she said.

‘And then I’m going to do a small stint of shows next year because that is something that authentically sounded good to me.

‘And then from there, there are other things that are different, and I think following those authentic impulses feels like a really good idea, like a good thing.’

The actress-singer first rose to fame as a teenager on Nickelodeon, playing Cat Valentine in Victorious from 2010 to 2013 before reprising the role in Sam & Cat.

She went on to become one of the world’s biggest pop stars, releasing seven studio albums, earning seven UK No.1 singles, breaking multiple streaming records and winning two Grammy Awards.

But Ariana now says the next decade of her life will look very different from the whirlwind rise that defined her twenties.

‘I feel very privileged and grateful to have learned that there can be room for different creative endeavours,’ she reflected.

‘I think it will change a lot. I think the last 10 or 15 years will look very different to the ones that are coming up.’

It comes after Ariana and Cynthia Erivo made a glamorous red carpet return at the New York City premiere of Wicked: For Good on Monday.

Ariana and Cynthia, 38 — who star as Glinda and Elphaba — wowed in striking monochrome looks at the event, just a few days after Ariana was ambushed by a fan at the Singapore premiere of the movie.

The singer and actress stunned in a dramatic bustier ballgown by Schiaparelli, featuring a stark black bodice and a voluminous skirt of pale tulle.

The pop star — whose crazed fan was sentenced to nine days in jail on Monday — accessorized with a black hair bow and wore delicate makeup.

The two co-stars, whose recent red carpet exchange was branded ‘annoying’ by fans, put on a united front as they held hands while posing together.

The singer’s boyfriend Ethan Slater, 33, who plays Boq in the film, was also present, but the two did not appear to pose together on the red carpet outside of group shots, amid recent rumors of a split.

Ariana also shared the ‘overwhelming gratitude’ they feel after wrapping up their Wicked journey.

She told E! News: ‘It’s been such an incredible ride and an incredible experience to create with people we love so much and respect so much creatively, but also who just have such great hearts.’

She added that she’s excited for fans to ‘finally be able to get the full story.’

‘It’s almost five years that we’ve spent with them,’ she shared, adding, ‘so, for them to finally be getting the full picture and to know the secrets we’ve known all along is very exciting.’

Cynthia did not speak during the interview as she is currently on vocal rest.

Ariana also gushed about their Grammys 2026 nomination for their Wicked soundtrack collaboration ‘Defying Gravity.’

‘It’s so incredible. It’s such an honor to have it be recognized, especially even a year after the first film, and we’re just so honored to have that moment together to be acknowledged.’
