I’m A Celebrity’s Ruby Wax delivered a withering putdown to new arrival Tom Read Wilson – days after viewers called for her to be axed for rudeness.

Celebs Go Dating receptionist Tom, 39, debuted on Thursday alongside Vogue Williams – with the pair appointed as ‘Chief Explorers’. 

It means the two are currently controlling the camp – including assigning chores to their new co-stars.

In tonight’s instalment, Tom decided to recite a sonnet to Ruby, 72, as he said to her: ‘Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?’

However, it appeared that comedian and presenter Ruby was not a fan of the full sonnet.  

She told Tom: ‘I don’t like the bit about the lines…just compare me to a summer’s day and leave it at that.’

Fans previously called for Ruby to be axed from the series as they claim she is ‘rude, unlikeable and annoying’

Tom also began singing scales in the creek, so loud that it was heard by his fellow celebrities back in camp.

All the original campmates wanted to impress Chief Explorers Tom and Vogue – hoping to win badges and by extension, a reward.

Emmerdale star Lisa Riley praised Tom’s posture and compared him to former Strictly judge Darcey Bussell.  

Following this, Tom treated his fellow campmates to a tap dance as Lisa sang ‘Get Happy’ and they all cheered him on.

It comes as fans had previously called for Ruby to be axed from the series, after just one episode.

The actress’ behaviour caused heads to turn after some viewers said she was rude towards her fellow co-stars. 

She met Ginge, Lisa, Alex Scott and Jack Osbourne at a luxury mansion before beginning their first challenge. 

One person wrote: ‘Not having Ruby Wax. Annoying.’

A second penned: ‘Already finding Ruby Wax annoying #ImACeleb.’

A third commented: ‘I’m sorry but ruby wax is doing my head in She hopeless and annoying.’

Elsewhere in tonight’s episode, rapper Aitch opened up to pal AngryGinge about having a ‘soft spot’ for fellow campmate Shona McGarty.

The two were at the creek when Aitch said: ‘I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Shona, me.’

Ginge replied: ‘I think she’s really nice, if that’s what you mean yeah…’

Aitch confirmed: ‘Yeah that’s what I mean.’

As Ginge agreed: ‘Yeah she is.’

In addition, Aitch also taught some new slang to Ruby and Lisa while they sat around the campfire.

 Lisa remarked: ‘He spits some bars, that’s the lingo! I didn’t know that.’

Aitch advised: ‘If you were speaking like that you should say something like because he spits heavy bars.’

Next, Ruby and Lisa asked Aitch on what slang he would use about someone he fancied.

He answered: ‘We say leng’ and then, ‘Ruby Wax is a leng-ting, leng is sexy’ – much to Ruby’s delight.
