It’s that time again for Netflix to remove and add new shows, but it’s the last batch of removals and additions for the year. On top of all the amazing Netflix original series that premiered or released new season throughout 2025, the streamer also gifted us some of the best TV shows to discover or rediscover. Thankfully, there are still plenty more shows coming to Netflix in December!
If you’re looking for a lengthy binge-watch to keep you busy during the extended time off from school and work during the holidays, Netflix will be adding one of the most celebrated political dramas of all time and an underrated procedural drama. There’s also two supernatural horror series coming to give us a thrill to keep the Stranger Things vibes going in between volumes.
But with new TV shows coming to next, that also means that the streamer will be taking a few favorites from our watch lists. This might be the most brutal month in recent memory for shows leaving Netflix, as a trio of beloved favorites from The CW will bid us farewell, as will one of the most popular sitcoms of the 2000s. Let’s take a closer look at what’s coming and leaving in December!
3 fan-favorite The CW shows are leaving Netflix in December 2025
It’s time to say goodbye to Arrow, The 100, and Supernatural Netflix. We knew this day would come since The CW’s previous streaming deal with Netflix allowed the shows to be available on the streamer for up to five years after their series finales, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less. All three of the fan-favorite hits will be removed on Dec. 18. That’s all eight seasons of Arrow, all seven seasons of The 100, and all 15 seasons of Supernatural.
That’s quite the loss for fans, but hopefully, they will each become available to watch on another streaming service, perhaps HBO Max, sooner rather than later. Netflix will also be removing How I Met Your Mother seasons 1-9 on Dec. 3, which means the complete series will now have to be watched on Hulu. Last but certainly not least, Evil seasons 1-3 leave Netflix on New Year’s Eve, but all four seasons of the cult favorite horror series remain available to watch on Paramount+.
The West Wing, The Closer, and more new shows coming to Netflix
In much more exciting news, as Netflix takes away some great television shows, they will also be giving us new shows to binge-watch during the last month of the year. The most highly anticipated and slightly unexpected addition headed to Netflix in December 2025 is NBC’s landmark political drama The West Wing. While you wait for The Diplomat season 4 to finally arrive, it’s the perfect replacement binge to dive into, especially since the series share two stars.
Keeping the long-running shows coming, as you start watching The West Wing seasons 1-7 on Dec. 9, save some room on your watch list for TNT’s police procedural The Closer. on Dec. 22 Kyra Sedgwick starred in the series as CIA-trained deputy chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, who’s known to close cases with her unmatched interrogation skills. J.K. Simmons and Corey Reynolds also starred in the ensemble cast. If you never watched this series, now’s your chance to discover a possible new favorite.
Rounding out the wonderful batch of new series coming to Netflix in December 2025, Hulu’s underrated supernatural series Castle Rock brings both of its seasons to the streamer on Dec. 16 and the second season of AMC’s Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches season 2 on Dec. 2. Who says you can’t get some chills while also feeling the Christmas spirit? There are surely more surprises to come on Netflix, but these are the shows coming to and leaving in December!
