At least two people have been injured after a gunman opened fire at a busy Silicon Valley mall on Black Friday.
Terrified shoppers ran for cover as chaos erupted at Westfield Valley Fair Mall in West San Jose, California, police announced just after 6 pm local time.
The two victims sustained gunshot wounds and have been taken to the hospital. Their condition remains unclear.
Police have urged community members to stay away from the mall as officers investigate ‘to ensure everyone’s safety,’ the police said in a statement.
Witnesses from within the mall have recounted the horror online, with many saying that they were trapped in stores when authorities issued a lockdown.
