Rob Reiner's son Nick walks to hotel within hours of parents' murders in new surveillance footage

Rob and Michele Reiner’s son Nick Reiner walked to a hotel in Santa Monica, Calif., within hours of his parents’ murders.

In new surveillance footage from a local business on the Santa Monica Pier, Nick was seen making his way toward the Pierside Santa Monica on Sunday around 4:10 a.m.

The 32-year-old moved at a somewhat slow pace, according to the video obtained by TMZ.

The outlet reported that Nick checked into the hotel about 5 minutes later, using his own credit card.

Eyewitnesses said Nick appeared “tweaked out” upon arrival but that there were no visible signs — blood on his clothes or cuts on his body — that he had been in a violent altercation.

The reservation was reportedly made for just one day, but Nick never formally checked out.

When housekeeping came into his room later Sunday morning, they reportedly found the shower “full of blood,” with blood also on the bed and the window covered by bedsheets.

Later that night, Nick was seen at a gas station across the street from Exposition Park near Downtown LA.

Surveillance footage from inside the gas station store showed Nick walking around before buying a drink.

An apparent law enforcement officer entered the store while Nick was waiting in line to make his purchase.

He was arrested moments later, around 9:15 p.m., on the corner of Exposition Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.

He was originally booked in DTLA’s Parker Center Jail before being transferred to Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he is being held without bail.

Hours before the Santa Monica sighting, Nick was seen walking past a gas station in Brentwood, going in the opposite direction of his parents’ home. It was around 11:15 p.m. Saturday night, according to surveillance footage obtained by The Post.

On Tuesday, he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders.

He is facing a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.

Nick made his first court appearance Wednesday. With disheveled hair, he remained stoic and somber throughout the hearing, looking straight ahead. He was shackled at both hands and feet and wore an anti-suicide smock.

He spoke only three words during his appearance to tell the judge, “Yes, your honor,” confirming that he was sure he wanted to waive his right to a fast arraignment.

Following the short hearing, Nick’s lawyer — famed criminal defense attorney Alan Jackson — announced to reporters outside the courthouse that his client would be arraigned on Jan. 7.

He also asked the public to not rush to judgment or jump to conclusions, as he described the case as “very, very complex and serious.”

Nick’s siblings — older brother Jake Reiner and younger sister Romy Reiner — released a statement following the hearing. They spoke about the “unimaginable pain” of the “horrific and devastating loss of [their] parents,” notably not mentioning their brother.

On Sunday afternoon, Rob, who was 78, and Michele, who was 70, were found by their daughter stabbed to death in their Brentwood home, with sources claiming their throats had been slit.

The LA County Medical Examiner has confirmed that the couple died from “multiple sharp force injuries,” ruling that the manner was homicide.

Nick, who lived in his parents’ guest house, has a history of violence and drug addiction. He has been to rehab almost 20 times and experienced bouts of homelessness.

The night before the murders, Nick joined Rob and Michele for a Christmas party at Conan O’Brien’s house. The couple was reportedly “reluctant to leave him home alone” because his “extreme and stressful behavior” had escalated and “grown degrees even more concerning in recent weeks.”

It’s been reported that Nick behaved bizarrely at the bash and made guests feel uncomfortable, which led to an argument with his parents.
