GB News viewers were left fuming over Eamonn Holmes' 'unprofessional' habit that made them switch off

GB News viewers were left fuming over Eamonn Holmes’ ‘unprofessional’ habit, which they claim drove them to switch off.

During Tuesday’s segment which he presented alongside Penny Smith, the duo discussed the latest headlines – but fans were left unimpressed by something else.

Eamonn and Penny were chatting to commentator Oscar Reddrop, where they shared their thoughts about Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood’s latest move.

The politician, 45, recently scrapped non-hate crime incidents, which she spoke about on the panel.

The segment appeared on a split screen, with some of the footage being out of focus.

However in the corner, viewers were left distracted by Eamonn and his bizarre habit.

Taking to X to share their frustration, one person wrote: ‘Eamonn Holmes needs to go home instead of sharing his germs.’

Another wrote: ‘If Holmes stopped stuffing his face, he wouldn’t keep coughing and spluttering everywhere – so unprofessional.’

A third commented: ‘Why is Holmes allowed to stuff himself live on TV? So bl**dy unprofessional.’

A fourth viciously penned: ‘Eamonn, it doesn’t look good when the crumbs from the Greggs sausage roll are falling down your suit.’

It comes after Eamonn was left fuming over the Christmas chocolate shrinkflation during this morning’s episode.

Discussing the size of Christmas chocolates now with Penny and sports presenter Paul Coyte, Paul joked: ‘We used to get a chocolate orange, but I think they’re now like a chocolate tangerine.’

Eamonn then laughed: ‘Now, shrinkflation, it’s all crazy. Do you know what, they’re all ripping us off.’

Earlier this month, Eamonn celebrated turning 66 during his show on GB News.

The presenter was joined by his colleagues on the breakfast show where he was given a sweet treat.

He also opened a special birthday present from Paul while on air.

Swiping at Paul for the Tottenham Hotspur wrapping paper, Eamonn – who is a Manchester United supporter – was elated as he opened the gift to reveal a Captain Scarlett model vehicle.

‘That’s joyous!’, Eamonn told Paul, before gratefully shaking his hand and thanking him for the gift.

His birthday surprise comes after his ex wife Ruth Langsford recently told how she turned to therapy to cope with their acrimonious split.

The Loose Women presenter revealed her struggles at their separation after 14 years of marriage, which saw Eamonn quickly move on to date relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior.

Ruth, who has a son Jack, 23, with the presenter, said it has helped her unravel their romance, which lasted 27 years but ended in June 2024.

She said: ‘I started counselling when Eamonn and I separated, and I’m still having it. It is very powerful and very useful. It gives me tools to deal with things.

‘My counsellor has probably seen us on TV, but she doesn’t know either of us so doesn’t get involved and doesn’t judge. She just listens and says, ‘Have you thought about this?’ or ‘Why did you feel like that?’

‘I think I know myself very well, so it has just been calming. It makes me question how I’m feeling. When my sister died, friends suggested counselling and I said, ‘I don’t [want] just [for someone] to tell me that I’m really sad,’ and I still feel like that.

‘The end of a very long relationship takes a lot of unravelling. Counselling helps you move on from it, to not be held back.’

The pair announced their split 18 months ago after several months of arguing. He left the £2.5million family home in Weybridge.
