There have been a lot of bad reactions to editor-in-chief Bari Weiss pulling the 60 Minutes story about illegal aliens and CECOT, the prison in El Salvador.
Now, bear in mind, she wasn’t saying that she wasn’t going to run with the story; she just wanted more done to it before it ran to the public, such as including a current comment from the administration in the story, which they didn’t do. Indeed, they had three different comments, from the Department of Homeland Security, the State Department, and the White House, but they didn’t include any of them.

But the folks on the left didn’t care that the concerns seemed like legitimate editorial concerns. Perhaps one of the worst responses came from Julie Roginsky. Roginsky is a former Democratic strategist who’s also appeared on Fox News Channel and now has a Substack newsletter. She actually compared Weiss’ action to Dachau, the infamous World War II concentration camp:
If escaped inmates from Dachau had staggered into a newsroom in 1930s Berlin to report what was happening, what would Bari Weiss have done? I think we know. https://t.co/2QKck12wA2

Her visible substack portion of her article expanded on that a little. I don’t subscribe, so I can only comment on what’s visible.
If escaped inmates from Dachau had staggered into a newsroom in 1930s Berlin — starved, beaten, carrying testimony of a system designed to disappear human beings — the most dangerous person in that room would not have been the regime’s censor. It would have been the editor who smiled sympathetically, took notes, promised “serious consideration,” and then quietly killed the story under the pretense that it didn’t present both sides of the concentration camp debate.
That editor, in today’s American media landscape, has a name: Bari Weiss.
So, asking reporters to do their job and make their pieces better is censorship? Oh, and Dachau?
Can we talk about how unhinged that is?
First, this is minimizing what happened at Dachau. Illegal aliens being sent to prison are not equivalent to innocent Jews being sent to their deaths. The comparison is gross and disgusting, especially when targeted at a Jewish woman like Bari Weiss. She even included a picture of a concentration camp with Weiss’ picture superimposed on it.
Why is it that people on the left can’t argue a point without defaulting to Nazis/Hitler? It just shows their argument is deficient right out of the chute if they go there. She’s been getting ratioed to the moon, and she still hasn’t pulled the post, so she has no shame.
Roginsky also had this bad take about Bari Weiss’ memo to the staff demanding more work on the story, commenting on Weiss saying she tracked down the number for the staff to contact Trump officials Stephen Miller or Tom Homan for comment, that they weren’t shy about offering comment.
Warning for graphic language:
The best part of this shit show memo is Weiss patting herself on the back that she “tracked down cell numbers for Homan and Miller,” as though journalists at 60 Minutes — 60 MINUTES — could not track them down without her help. pic.twitter.com/hFLrI5OI5M
— Julie Roginsky (@julieroginsky) December 23, 2025
As though the “journalists” at 60 Minutes couldn’t track down the numbers, Roginsky snarked.
Um, yes? That’s exactly Weiss’ point: where is the Trump administration comment, because it wouldn’t take a lot to get it? But they didn’t put it in the story.
Oh, and if you were talking about a newsroom in Berlin in the 30s, chances are that Weiss wouldn’t have been there because she would have been purged out for being Jewish, and they didn’t like people who could challenge their narrative.
