Ariana Grande’s costar-turned-boyfriend Ethan Slater might look like he has a slim 5ft7in frame, but he’s surprisingly ripped in a newly-released deleted scene from their hit film Wicked: For Good.
In the ET exclusive clip, the 33-year-old Tony Award nominee’s munchkin character Boq tore off his shirt to chop wood to make a badminton net after Jonathan Bailey’s prince character Fiyero did the same during a group picnic.
Slater’s physique impressed fans like X user @Startboii1, who tweeted: ‘Ooh Ariana I get it now…’
‘Damn,’ YouTube user @TEBOPR agreed. ‘Now I understand what Ariana sees in Ethan.’
YouTube user @Cloudetower posted a crying laughing emoji and commented: ‘Ari saw that and went hubba hubba.’
‘Why is no one mentioning Ethan is actually RIPPED!?’ YouTube user @antonliir8189 marveled.

‘Ari doesn’t have bad taste at all, huh?’
Slater’s shirtless scene was first teased by Bowen Yang – who played Pfannee – when he told the Just Trish podcast a year ago: ‘He is jacked under that shirt.’
Jon M. Chu’s sequel Wicked: For Good received mixed reviews, but it still amassed $506 million from a $150 million budget since opening November 21.
The former amateur wrestler and the 32-year-old pop star have never gone red carpet official as a couple despite notoriously falling in love on the London set of the Broadway musical adaptation sometime between December 2022 and July 2023.
Scandal immediately surrounded Slater and Grande as he was still very much married to his ‘heartbroken’ high school sweetheart Lilly Jay and mother of his three-year-old son Ezra, but their divorce was finalized in September 2023.
‘I really never thought I would get divorced. Especially not just after giving birth to my first child and especially not in the shadow of my husband’s new relationship with a celebrity,’ the 33-year-old psychologist wrote in The Cut last year.
‘I confidently moved to another country with my two-month-old baby and my husband to support his career. Consumed by the magic and mundanity of new motherhood, I didn’t understand the growing distance between us.’
The Oscar-nominated actress – who was engaged to Bupkis creator-star Pete Davidson for four months in 2019 – finalized her own divorce from her real estate agent Dalton Gomez in October 2023 after 21 months of marriage.

On December 10, Slater returned to his alma mater – Vassar College – to be honored with the Young Alum Achievement Award and discuss his career 11 years after graduating
‘Early on, I had an audition where I left the room – I’m going to say no specifics – but I left the room and before the door closed, the director said, “Why did you even bring him in?”‘ the Washington, D.C.-born triple threat recalled
Slater will next star as the famous French mime Marcel Marceau, who helped Jewish orphans escape Nazi-occupied France, in off-Broadway play Marcel on the Train which runs February 5-March 14 at the Classic Stage Company

At 23, Slater was ’20 years too young’ to play the part but it still left him lamenting that he’d ‘never’ get an acting job.
‘Having the experience of getting to be on the other side of it, which has only happened professionally for me more recently, has been pretty great,’ the SAG Award nominee said.
‘Now I’m like, “Oh, first of all, inappropriate.” That was on the them, but also they probably didn’t even mean anything by it.’
