Nottingham Forest defender Murillo is among the candidates under consideration at Man United for next summer

Murillo is among the players being considered by Manchester United as they seek a new central defender for next season.

The Nottingham Forest player has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the Premier League since moving to the City Ground in 2023 and has long been admired by the wealthiest clubs in the country.

As Daily Mail Sport revealed in December, Murillo is open to leaving Forest next summer despite signing a new, improved four-and-a-half-year deal in January 2025.

And it is understood the Brazilian is prominent on United’s radar as they prepare for the departure of Harry Maguire.

Murillo, 23, is a quick, powerful left-footer whose partnership with Nikola Milenkovic last season took Forest within a whisker of qualifying for the Champions League.

Though Murillo and his family are settled in Nottingham, his performances have kept him on the radar of the continent’s elite.

A £10million signing from Brazilian club Corinthians, Murillo is undoubtedly one of the best deals of the Evangelos Marinakis era.

Unless Forest win the Europa League, they will not be playing in the Champions League next season.

Should United qualify for Europe’s premier club competition, it would strengthen their hand when trying to sign players of Murillo’s level.
