After 10 Years, Kyle Chandler’s 3-Part Netflix Thriller Bloodline Is Worth a Weekend Binge

A forgotten Netflix thriller masterpiece starring Kyle Chandler still holds up today as one of the very best shows to binge-watch on the giant streaming platform. Released in 2015, this 3-season psychological thriller combines dark family drama, suspense, and even comedy.

Before there was Ozark, this series was arguably the best Netflix original crime thriller ever made. Although some may say the series fell off after its groundbreaking, immersive, and award-nominated debut season, the entire series is still worth binge-watching 10 years later.

Bloodline Is A Netflix Thriller Masterpiece With A Stellar Cast

Longtime Netflix subscribers likely know all about Bloodline, which was one of the most popular and critically acclaimed series on the platform during the mid-2010s. If you haven’t heard of Bloodline, however, and are looking for a high-quality, gripping, and star-studded binge, there are few shows quite as exceptional as this.

Chandler, known best for his roles in classic TV shows like Friday Night Lights and movies like Argo, leads one of the best ensemble casts ever assembled for a Netflix original series, right up there with Stranger Things. They include Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Sissy Spacek, Sam Shepard, Davis Zayas, Beau Bridges, Chloë Sevigny, Owen Teague, Jamie McShane, John Leguizamo, and more.

Like Succession, Bloodline is a tense and deep-seated family drama set in a luxurious background, specifically the Florida Keys. Chandler plays John Rayburn, the golden child of the family, while Mendelsohn plays Danny, the shady black sheep. While most would kill to live in the gorgeous coastal Rayburn family home, John and Danny are haunted by internal demons, setting them on an inevitable collision course.

Bloodline is one of those series that hooks you instantly, whether that’s due to its beautiful location, fantastic ensemble, suspenseful tone, or intriguing story. This is very much a character-driven series, in which viewers can easily become emotionally invested in all the dozen or so key supporting characters. The series walks a fine line between melodrama and thriller, maintaining a strong consistency throughout.

All adult Netflix subscribers should check out Bloodline at some point, especially those who are stuck inside during the winter months and are looking to escape to a tropical destination. A classic tale of sibling rivalry with a “trouble in paradise” theme, Bloodline is seriously addictive, both because you can’t wait to see what happens next, but more so because it’s so inviting that you’ll likely find it hard to leave.

Binge all three seasons of Bloodline this weekend if you’re looking for one of the all-time best Netflix shows to get lost in.
