3 Prime Video Shows You Need to Binge This Weekend

This past Wednesday, the second half of the Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell-led Fallout‘s stunning second season kicked off in superb fashion with Episode 5, “The Wrangler.” Helping keep the video game adaptation at the top of the streaming charts, Fallout has now spent its entire second season run at the Prime Video summit, keeping plenty of other popular series at bay. The wait until next Wednesday for your next fill of post-apocalyptic action can feel like forever, so, in the meantime, make sure you’re checking out the other great options the streamer has to offer. To help you decide what to watch, here’s a look at three Prime Video shows you need to binge this weekend.

‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’ (2018–2023)

Rotten Tomatoes: 80% | IMDb: 8.0/10

For some ass-kicking action this weekend, look no further than Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Based on Clancy’s beloved novels, the series follows The Office star John Krasinski‘s take on the titular CIA analyst, with an unlikely discovery pulling him from his boring desk job and into the field, and a perilous game of cat-and-mouse putting his life in danger.

Before Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) became Prime Video’s action poster boy, Krasinski was the name on every subscriber’s lips. Nominated for three Primetime Emmys across its four season, 30-episode run, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan delivers all-out action and plenty of thrills, but it never forgets to offer a gripping emotional core, helped by a pitch-perfect Krasinski performance.

2

‘Tales from the Loop’ (2020)

Rotten Tomatoes: 87% | IMDb: 7.4/10

An adaptation of Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag’s futuristic art narrative, Tales from the Loop is one of the most underrated Prime Video arrivals of 2020. This dystopian sci-fi tale is set in a town covered by “The Loop,” a scientific research facility built to uncover the universe’s greatest mysteries. What happens when reality for the townspeople becomes distorted and impossible becomes possible?

A clever, immersive sci-fi series with plenty of human themes, Tales from the Loop is the series you might not know you needed. A contemplative show that tackles its subject matter with deft precision, Tales from the Loop earned a pair of Primetime Emmy nominations back in 2020, with nods for the show’s Visual Effects and Cinematography.

1

‘Dead Ringers’ (2023)

Rotten Tomatoes: 85% | IMDb: 6.4/10

Based on David Cronenberg’s beloved 1988 film, which itself was inspired by Bari Wood and Jack Geasland’s 1977 novel, Twins, the Alice Birch-developed Dead Ringers follows Rachel Weisz as twin gynecologists, Beverly and Elliot Mantle. Although they share everything, their mission to change the way women give birth is destined to turn into horrific chaos as their dysfunctional dynamic spills over.

A visually stunning series that earned a nomination for Best Cinematography at the Primetime Emmy Awards, Dead Ringers might not be the psychological masterpiece that the 1988 movie was, but let that take nothing away from everything this series does right. From a gripping narrative to a truly remarkable performance from Weisz, Dead Ringers will pull you into its twisted world and not let go for six great episodes this weekend.
