Jaden Ivey has appeared in 24 games this season and is averaging 8.6 points and 2.2 rebounds.

The Detroit Pistons are the top team in the Eastern Conference and have shown to be a serious contender to compete for a title.

While the NBA trade deadline is approaching, teams across the league are weighing their options. According to an NBA Insider, the Pistons aren’t rushing to make any significant moves. “The Pistons continue to message that they aren’t in any hurry to sacrifice prime draft capital or significant trade equity to make a major in-season addition,” Jake Fischer reported.

However, the organization may be looking to move Jaden Ivey. Fischer added that the front office is “at the very least, known to be gauging the market for Ivey, who is headed for restricted free agency this summer.”

Ivey has appeared in 24 games this season and is averaging 8.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

Jaden Ivey Signed Rookie Contract for $33 Million

The Pistons selected Ivey with the fifth in the 2022 NBA Draft. According to spotrac.com, Ivey signed a four-year contract worth $32,951,083. His contract expires this season and before the season began, Detroit was on a deadline to offer Ivey an extension, but no deal was made.

With this being a contract season for Ivey, he will be closely monitored on the court and he’ll look to increase his value. But the team could look for other options before the deadline. Coming out of college, the Pistons were high on Ivey, making him a lottery pick.

During his rookie season, Ivey quickly made a name for himself and had an impressive year. Out of 74 games, he started in 73 and averaged 16.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds. He was named to the All-Rookie Second-Team.

The next year, Ivey went on to have another productive season averaging 15.4 points and 3.8 assists in 77 games. On the court, he was another ball-handler who could score and make the right reads on offense. He also used his speed to get to the rim.

Pistons’ Guard Battling Injuries Early on in Career

During his third season with the Pistons, Ivey was forced to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 due to a broken left fibula. Before the injury, he played in 30 games and averaged 17.6 points. After recovering from the injury, Ivey was ready to make a return this season.

Before the season began, he had to get an arthroscopic procedure done on his right knee, which forced him to miss the start of the season. The organization did not want to rush Ivey back this season and wanted to make sure he fully recovered from the procedure.

“We won’t rush him. Our biggest thing with him is let’s make sure you get back healthy and we keep you back,” Pistons president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon said. “Obviously, it’s not easy coming back off of the ankle injury he had that was freakish…he worked his butt off and then he has to have this and go back to it. But he’s had a phenomenal mindset with this, he’s going to attack it and be back soon.”

In his first game back from injury, Ivey had 10 points in 15 minutes of action against the Milwaukee Bucks. Ivey’s future with Detroit is uncertain, but the guard out of Purdue is going to continue to play hard each and every game.
