While most of us love to pick up a bargain in the sales – John Lewis currently have a fabulous womenswear sale and home sale on right now, by the way – there’s something I think people always sleep on. Direct shopping.
Yes you can get all the big brands in one place but that doesn’t always mean you’ll get the best price. My secret to getting a bargain is to seek out sales and deals directly from brand websites.
Not only can you occasionally find the thing you’re looking for at a better price but brand websites tend to discount similar models too. So whereas you might be able to get a good deal on that one coffee machine or air fryer at Currys or royal-approved fashion deals at John Lewis, the brand’s own website will have tonnes of similar items all reduced.
Of course, this isn’t always the case, sometimes the larger retailers do have the best prices. But nowadays you’ll tend to find you can get what you need direct from the site at the same price, often with a better warranty.
I’ve been writing about, reviewing and testing products for years and this also includes covering deals events. This means I’m well equipped to seek out these less-known deals on the items you need.
These are my recommendations on where to shop for the best deals on appliances, homewares, fashion and beauty right now.
For discounts across cooking, baking and dining.
For mega discounts on luxury cooking and baking dishes.
For home, garden and small appliance deals
For home and floorcare deals.
For indoor and outdoor cleaning, especially in winter.
For direct deals on vacuums and premium beauty tech
For chic bags and accessories that feel very ‘old money’.
For deals on comfortable and flattering winter fashion.
For premium beauty deals and discounts on popular set
For skincare and beauty designed to keep skin looking youthful
Can you always get better discounts directly?
Not always, but occasionally you can find a gem of a deal or at least a price matched deak from a larger retailer.
Direct brand websites also will often have discounts on products outside of the usual deals periods, so if there’s something you need that you can’t wait until Black Friday or Prime day for, it pays to shop around.
