How Melania's private life vanished in White House sprint

Melania Trump has told the Daily Mail how her life became topsy-turvy when her husband was elected for a second, nonconsecutive term.

As she was readjusting to private life after four years as First Lady, she was thrown back into the world of politics when Donald Trump won the 2024 election.

At last night’s premiere of her new documentary, Melania: Twenty Days to History, the 55-year-old detailed why she wanted to give Americans a behind-the-scenes look at her life leading up to her husband’s second inauguration.

‘Can you talk a little bit about your inspiration for focusing on these 20 days before inauguration?’ the Daily Mail asked on the red carpet, which the First Lady painted black in line with the color scheme of the film’s promotion.

Melania Reflects on Returning to Life as First Lady

‘Well, it was my life,’ Melania said, walking alongside the President. ‘So people will see it transitioning from private citizen to being the First Lady again.’

‘The schedule was very intense, they followed me from morning until evening,’ the mother of one added.

‘And you will see what I have to do and what I did from planning the inauguration, to running my business… taking care of the family, moving to the White House, meeting with security detail, establishing the East Wing and hiring the people that need to work for me – but also they work for the American people.’

The movie, made by Amazon, hit theaters nationwide today, but administration officials, politicians, MAGA influencers and sports and music industry stars were invited to a screening at the Trump-Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, last night.

High-Profile Premiere Draws a Mix of Public and Private Arrivals

Some walked the carpet and spoke with the press, but others – such as rapper Nicki Minaj – opted for a private arrival.

The President’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr, held an after-party at his Executive Club in Georgetown featuring a performance by singer Akon.

The film offers a peek behind the curtain, with multiple crews following Melania from New York City to West Palm Beach, Florida and Washington, DC.

President Trump called the movie his wife’s ‘baby.’

‘This was her views, it’s her feel, and she’s done a great job,’ Trump told the Daily Mail. ‘I think you’re going to really like it. This is a really good movie. It’s a beautiful movie. It’s a documentary of sorts, but it explains the White House.’

Melania said she hoped people will ‘know me a little bit more’ by watching the film.

‘I’m a very private person and a very selective person. What I do, what I don’t do; when I talk, when I don’t talk. And that’s my choice,’ she told Fox News panel The Five last night.

‘Nobody is in charge of me and I’m not in charge of anybody else.’

Best dressed guests at Melania Trump’s movie premiere

It’s just one day before Melania Trump’s documentary, Melania, is set to premiere in theaters across the country, and a group of high-profile guests descended upon the red carpet Thursday night for a special screening at the Kennedy Center.

The documentary follows the First Lady in the 20 days leading up to husband President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025. Amazon secured the film for $40 million – the largest documentary deal in history – after beating rivals Disney, Netflix and Paramount in a ferocious bidding war.

The exclusive premiere on Thursday included a guest list of prominent names and members of the Trump administration, like Pete Hegseth and RFK Jr.

The trailer, released last month, shows Melania, now 55, in her element, ascending the stairs to her private jet in sky-high stilettos, marshaling business meetings in Mar-a-Lago and Manhattan, and stunning in her white-and-black inaugural ball gown.

Behind-the-scenes footage captures tender family moments with son Barron Trump and her father, while also shining a light on the rigorous security standards that surround the First Family.

With so many different high-profile figures attending tonight’s Melania premiere, there are sure to be a myriad of stunning and unique outfits. The Daily Mail has rounded up the best looks from Melania’s premiere night.

The star of the show! Melania Trump looked elegant and ready for the premiere as she arrived to the Kennedy Center.

She wore a $2,000 jacket from her favorite designer, Dolce and Gabbana, which featured shining black buttons and long sleeves.

She paired the glamorous jacket with a skinny, black crocodile belt, along with a knee-length black skirt and her signature So Kate Christian Louboutin pumps.

Melania movie review: ‘The movie itself is surprisingly apolitical’

The White House screening of MELANIA last weekend was a who’s who of Hollywood, politics and tech.

A milieu of queens, princesses and CEOs. Grateful to be included, I felt like the kid in Almost Famous, inexplicably sitting at the cool kids’ table.

Two years ago I was making TikToks in my East Village apartment. Now I’m in the Red Room, eating a ‘MELANIA’ biscuit, doing my best not to leave any crumbs.

MELANIA is not a single camera documentary with a piecemeal budget. Acquired by Amazon MGM studios for a reported $40 million, this film, directed by Brett Ratner (of the Jackie Chan Rush Hour movies), from beginning to end is grand, ornate and blazing with splendor.

We open with a panning drone shot over the rippling turquoise that surrounds President Trump’s ‘winter White House’ in Florida, Mar-a-Lago.

Soaring over waves, we land at the palatial resort on New Year’s Day, 2025, with Melania stepping into her motorcade and heading for Palm Beach airport.

It feels like a scene out of Charlie’s Angels.

She’s beautiful and poised behind those trademark dark shades. She’s en route to New York and the clock is ticking to her husband’s historic second Inauguration in just 20 days.

This is the rather breathless and breath-taking start of a mad dash to get everything ready for her family’s return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

From Trump Tower in Manhattan, she goes from meeting to meeting, hiring staff, picking out furniture for the White House, in which, we learn, her father Viktor Knavs has a room.

Mrs Trump and famed interior designer Tham Kannalikham hammer out the details.

An enigmatic figure, Mrs Trump pulls back the curtain and brings us along as she moves through her days.

Here is a First Lady engaged in every detail, right down to the coupes the First Family will drink out of – these are decisions that must be made.

The film’s soundtrack provides a fascinating insight – a pulsing playlist of 80s hits: Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, Spandau Ballet’s True and Tears for Fears’ Everybody Wants to Rule the World.

I wanted to get up and dance during the screening, but the agents with earpieces lining the walls of the East Room gave me pause.
