An eight-year-old boy in China fell into a coma after getting into a car accident in November 2025.
According to South China Morning Post, Liu Chuxi suffered severe brain damage and lung injuries, and doctors informed his family that his chances of regaining consciousness were slim.
However, Liu’s mother did not give up and took the boy to numerous hospitals to seek treatment.
One doctor recommended utilising familiar sounds, such as the boy’s favourite music, to possibly stimulate specific parts of his brain and potentially wake him up.
So, his mother decided to play her son’s school’s wake-up music and morning exercise songs for Liu every day.
Heartwarming
Liu’s teacher also helped by organising the boy’s classmates to record videos for him, SCMP reported.
One of Liu’s classmates said in the video, “Chuxi, wake up soon, let’s go play football together.”
Another classmate said they miss Liu:
“If you can hear us, please open your eyes. The exams are coming and we are waiting for you to come back and study with us.”
One classmate apparently sang Liu’s favourite song, and another shared funny stories from class, SCMP reported.
It added that Liu’s mother would play his classmates’ videos and math lesson recordings beside his bed every day.
After 45 days, Liu moved his eyelids and apparently smiled a few days later when he heard his teacher’s voice.
On the 55th day, Liu regained consciousness and was able to move his left hand.
