An Indiana girl who vanished last month was found dead in Ohio on Sunday, officials said.
Tyler Thomas’s lawyer said he led the FBI to Hailey Buzbee’s body in Perry County. Thomas’s lawyer expects him to be charged with homicide or murder charges in connection with the 17-year-old’s death, according to the Indianapolis Star.
Columbus, Ohio, police told WTHR that Bubzee was killed at a short-term rental property in Hocking County.
Currently, Thomas, 39, is charged with pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and tampering with evidence. The charges stem from illicit images that were allegedly of Bubzee and were on Thomas’ phone. Officials said he tried to delete the images.
Bubzee was last seen at her Fishers home on January 5, and her parents claimed she left overnight. Fishers identified Thomas as the person she left with. Thomas reportedly admitted to picking up Bubzee, but he claimed he dropped her off on the side of the road in Ohio.
Bubzee’s cause of death was not disclosed.
Thomas appeared in court on Monday. His bond was set at $1.5 million.
