Blackburn Rovers are eyeing up Reading's Leam Richardson to become their next manager

Leam Richardson is emerging as a leading candidate to become the next manager of Blackburn Rovers.

The 46-year-old has been impressing at Reading where he has been a stabilising influence since joining in October, losing just four games.

He started his playing career at Blackburn before going on to manage neighbours Accrington Stanley and Wigan Athletic where he won promotion to the Championship in 2021-22.

It is understood Reading would require around £400,000 in compensation should Blackburn make their interest formal.

Rovers parted ways with Valerien Ismael on Tuesday after a run of eight league games without a win left the club in the relegation places in the Championship.
