Fallout Gamers In Love With Surprise New Trailer From Bethesda

If you’ve been tuning into the Fallout TV show each week, you probably spotted the mysterious countdown clock that was set to go live after the finale ended. Fans around the world were hoping for a shadow drop of a Fallout 3 remaster, and while this didn’t turn out to be the case, Bethesda has actually remembered the Fallout games exist after all.

Shortly before the Fallout season two finale aired, Bethesda released a special trailer dedicated to the Fallout video game series, and it’s a genuinely wonderful tribute to a video game series we all love so much.

The New Fallout Trailer Has A Familiar Face

The vault in our stars

Aaron Moten in the Fallout: Best Buddies trailer

The brand-new trailer, called “Best Buddies”, sees actor Aaron Moten apparently sharing an apartment with Vault Boy. Moten, of course, plays Maximus in the Fallout TV series, but we see him here in a decidedly safer scenario — and rocking an excellent new blonde haircut. The trailer focuses on all the Fallout games you can currently play on Xbox right now, and it’s a lot of fun.

Moten and Vault Boy start off by playing through Fallout 76 on the couch, before taking a trip down memory lane. We see them relive some iconic Fallout moments, including meeting a Supermutant in Fallout 3, getting shot in the head in Fallout: New Vegas, and building a suit of Power Armor in Fallout 4. Even Fallout Shelter gets some love.

It’s not exactly the shadow-drop we were all hoping for, but it’s a welcome reminder that Bethesda still deeply cares about the Fallout game series. Or it cares about the ones currently available on Xbox Game Pass, at least. I know some of you aren’t going to be happy about the Fallout and Fallout 2 erasure in this trailer.

Fallout Fans Are (Mostly) Loving This Trailer

You can’t please everyone

The majority of fans seemed to be pretty taken with this trailer, although some couldn’t resist the chance to roast Bethesda for this admittedly rare reference to the video games.

“There are video games too?” one fan wrote on Reddit, while another added: “Pretty cool they made all these games just from the show!”

Some were just sad that this new trailer points out how far away we are from Fallout 5, which I do kind of understand.

“Corny but fun trailer, but dayum did it really emphasise just how slow Bethesda’s release schedule is,” one fan observed. “The fact they are advertising Fallout 4 and 76 instead of a shiny new game is sad…”
