Well, well, well.
If this little announcement doesn’t put paid to the Spanish Prime Minister’s surliness over taking offering assistance by way of base access to the United States for Operation Epic Fury, I’m not quite sure what would.
By the way, have you ever seen Trump tell Sanchez to take a seat?
It’s a hoot.

May this gem not die in oblivion.
Sánchez wanted to speak with Trump and got an epic ‘sit down’
In any event, the man who’s been dubbed ‘the ayatollahs’ best friend in Europe’ and who keeps doing his darnedest to prove it just got some serious backup from the Religious Affairs Office of the city of Barcelona.
Barcelona might ring a bell because, if you’re luckier than I have been so far, you’ve gotten to see the La Sagrada Familia there – Antoni Gaudí’s magnificent vision of a soaring Catholic cathedral that’s spent the past 144 years coming to life. It is this close to being completed at long last.
The same city has recently issued guidance to the public school system for respecting the sensitivities of Muslim students during Ramadan.
Ramadan at school: Guidelines for supporting students (information session)
Barcelona City Council, through the Office of Religious Affairs (OAR) and the BCN Interculturality program (PROGBI) integrated into the Department of Interculturality and Religious Pluralism, is organizing an in-person information session especially aimed at teachers and professionals in the educational field in Barcelona to offer practical tools and a positive and informed look at Ramadan, as an expression of diversity in schools.
…Schools must have rigorous information on the Islamic holy month of Ramadan and Muslim students’ rights, given that schools are key sites of harmonious coexistence, equality and recognition of diversity. Knowing about Ramadan makes it possible to avoid stereotypes, prevent situations of discrimination and guarantee students equal treatment. Thus, the document aims to provide tools, guidelines and criteria to help schools to integrate Ramadan into their school life, enhance intercultural dialogue, and act in accordance with pedagogical and human-rights criteria to foster an inclusive school climate and contribute to educating a critical, respectful, cohesive citizenry.
The document also includes recommendations for adapting schools’ everyday operations, calendars and activities to support students who are fasting out of respect for their religious convictions, with particular attention to preventing discrimination, stereotypes and situations of Islamophobia.
It’s not going over well.

Oh, hang on! Barcelona said, when people first heard about the restrictions of everyday activities being forced on Spanish students in order to be ‘more inclusive’ for their new classmates.
WE NEVER SAID NO DANCING
Which is strange, because according to Spanish media…
I liked Spain better when they were the ones doing the Reconquista.

Barcelona City Council advises against dancing or playing music in schools during Ramadan
Reported by Esther Armora
…they sure did. Spanish kids need to do the adapting, you see. In their own schools, to show ‘respect’ to the newcomers’ religion.
All the while the same government and school system is systematically at war against the concept of religion in schools and Christians celebration in particular.
Well…huh.
Barcelona City Council advises against dancing or playing music in schools during Ramadan
Amid a public offensive against the Religion subject and the ban on Christmas in some schools, the City Council is asking for schools to be “adapted” to the Islamic celebration.
The Barcelona City Council , through its Office of Religious Affairs (OAR), has distributed the guide ‘Guidelines for Educational Centers on Ramadan ‘ to the city’s schools, recommending that school principals that as a gesture of respect for the Muslim celebration, which this year began on February 18 and concludes on March 20, they do not carry out extracurricular activities such as music or dance, which may be considered by some people as “inappropriate” in this month “dedicated to spirituality”.
“Some Muslims may consider music or dance an inappropriate activity for the month of Ramadan, as it is considered a month dedicated to spirituality in which it is especially important to maintain a pious attitude. Therefore, it would be advisable to take this sensitivity into account when scheduling activities or to offer alternative activities,” states the document obtained by ABC.
The controversial guide , presented last month during an information session organized by the OAR (Office of Religious Affairs) and the City Council’s Department of Interculturality and Religious Pluralism, comes amid a campaign of harassment against the Religion subject in Catalan schools. Despite being a mandatory subject under an existing agreement between the State and the Holy See , it is rarely offered to families during the pre-registration process, as Religion teachers’ unions have been denouncing for years.
…The document refers to the most rigorous interpretations of sacred texts, that is, to the most radical Islam, which is why some associations of religion teachers consulted by ABC interpret it as “a submission of educational institutions to the most fundamentalist branches of Islam.” The PREC union considers “any gesture that seeks the inclusion and respect of students’ religiosity and spirituality” to be positive, but asks that “the same sensitivity and respect that the guide promotes also be applied to the subject of Catholic religion in public schools.”
There certainly seems to be a conflict between how religious celebrations are handled by the school system, for a region, including the city itself, which has swelled with Muslims, yet still only represents a little under 14% of the population.
So if canceling Christmas is perfectly fine, why would enforcing a ban on dancing and music during the school day and activities in observance of Ramadan be as well?
Not only that, but when a school is planning some sort of event or activity during the month, they are being ‘urged’ (and you know what that means), to take the Muslim holiday ‘sensitivities’ into account for planning purposes, too.
…Furthermore, the document highlights that it would be advisable to
take this sensitivity into account when scheduling activities or to offer alternative events.
This isn’t a course on one of the ‘world’s religions’ – this is a 12-step capitulation.
As I said earlier, I do believe the Office of Religious Affairs got the message because there’s been a furious effort to ‘clean up, Aisle 4!’ today.
The city council has published the guide “Orientacions per a centres educatius durant el Ramadà” with advice on how to coexist with Ramadan, which has generated controversy.
It’s all about ‘coexisting,’ don’t you know.
And we’d never ban the music like those ‘alarmist’ headlines said.
Why can’t you knuckledraggers be reasonable when something’s being done FOR THE INTERCULTURAL CHILDREN?
…The ultimate goal of this document is to provide teachers with tools to manage a diverse reality and “prevent situations of discrimination.“ Barcelona is committed to a model of interculturality where knowledge of others serves to overcome prejudices and guarantee equal treatment.
In short, the guide does not introduce prohibitions, remove songs from textbooks, or empty gym classes. What it does is call for dialogue, empathy, and common sense so that the right to education and freedom of belief can coexist without unnecessary conflict.
You can consult the guide, which is in the public domain, at this link.
One of these days. #BucketList
When asked how long the Sagrada Família would take to complete, Antoni Gaudí replied: “My client is not in a hurry”. It took over 140 years to finish.

I only hope it’s still a church.
