It may be one of the glamour ties of the round but Real Madrid fans aren’t prepared to shell out to cheer on their team, with hundreds of tickets still available for tonight’s Champions League clash.
Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Madrid for their last-16 clash this evening, in what has become a staple fixture in the club season – with the European giants having met in each of the past four campaigns.
Perhaps it is that fixture fatigue that has left Madrid fans uninterested in attending the clash at the Bernabeu, with football finance expert Kieran Maguire revealing on Tuesday morning that hundreds of tickets remain available to buy from the club’s online ticket office.
Plus, at the price of more than £380 a ticket in some areas of the stadium, fans are seemingly not prepared to pay up to attend the big match.
‘Plenty of tickets available for Real Madrid v Manchester City tonight,’ Maguire said, adding with a tone of sarcasm. ‘No idea why.’
