The Chicago Bears have been in the running to get Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders, and it’s taken yet another turn.
The Chicago Bears have been in the running to get Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders, and it’s taken yet another turn. Crosby, of course, says that he’s back to being a “Raider for life,” but now, some of his comments may designate that’s not the case forever, or even for now.
A handful of teams were in pursuit of Crosby during the NFL offseason going into the 2026-27 run, including the Bears, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks. But, Crosby was traded to the Baltimore Ravens, only to fail his physical and then comeback to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Now, it’s really up in the air whether the Raiders are taking trade requests on Crosby, but due to his health issues, they likely won’t get the two first-round picks they wanted in a trade right now. That’s why they’re waiting to trade him, but comments directly from Crosby are telling and indicate that even he doesn’t know where he stands with the franchise.
Las Vegas Raiders and Maxx Crosby May Not Be Together Forever
Ben Johnson is a smart head coach, and he’s not going to give up top picks to bring Crosby to Chicago if he thinks that’s going to cost the franchise too much. But, Crosby brings a solid presence and numbers to any NFL team, so that’s why the Bears have been interested in the player.
During the 2025 NFL regular season, according to NFL research, Crosby recorded 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception.
In the Tuesday, March 17 episode of his podcast, “The Rush With Maxx Crosby,” the player opened up about his journey during the offseason. During the show, he said that “the whole situation was probably one of the most unique, crazy, wild, up-and-down roller coasters I’ve ever been a part of.”
Crosby talked about the physical and feeling weird after not getting a warm welcome from the Raiders. He called his surgeon, and he explained the talk, stating, “He’s like, ‘Your knee is great. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be or even ahead of schedule.’ He’s like, ‘You’re doing everything right. They know you had your surgery nine weeks ago.’”
“He’s showing me the actual literal literature of, like, ‘This is where the knee is supposed to be at from a meniscus repair,” he added on the show. “MRIs could be misleading because it’s still fresh in surgery and this and that.’ He’s like, ‘Listen, you’re doing everything right. Everything’s going well. We’re going to keep sticking to the plan.’ He’s like, ‘You will be back by training camp.’”
Maxx Crosby Makes Telling Remark About His Future With the Las Vegas Raiders
That’s when Crosby made a telling remark about his future with the Raiders. He said that he’s in it “for life” but added something.
“Until that changes — which I don’t foresee. Honestly, you never know in this … league,” he said. “I found that out for sure. I just feel like I’m meant to be a Raider.”
So, him saying “honestly, you never know in this … league” and saying that he “feels” like he’s a Raider is different from saying that he knows he won’t be traded. The door may be open for Chicago again.
