Even though we have only been without Stranger Things for a few months, it’s felt like an eternity since we left Hawkins. While we won’t be heading back until the animated spinoff arrives on Netflix next month, the Duffer Brothers will introduce their first new production since ending their breakout series. Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen has finally arrived to reveal its titular promise.
The Duffer Brothers didn’t create the new series, nor did they write or direct any episodes, but their sense of storytelling is present as executive producers. Netflix’s latest original series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen was created by Haley Z. Boston and delves into a horror-centric story that’s much different than what our Hawkins heroes were up against in Stranger Things.
Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco star as Rachel and Nicky, a couple preparing for their wedding day amid Rachel’s overbearing feelings of paranoia and dread that something bad will happen. Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen premieres on Thursday, March 26, 2026 on Netflix. Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen feature two prominent stars leading the cast, and that’s Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco. Morrone has starred in movies like Never Goin’ Back, Death Wish, Valley Girl, Gonzo, and Marmalade and television series such as The Night Manager and Daisy Jones & The Six. Her performance in the latter earned her an Emmy Award nominations.
DiMarco came into prominence for his role in The White Lotus season 2, but he’s also been featured in hit titles like Overcompensating, The Magicians, The Order, Pillow Talk, Radio Rebel, and the horror film Undertone. What to expect from Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen
Based on its unique title that acts as a mild spoiler but more so a promise, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen will naturally draw viewers in to find out what that “something very bad” ends up being. The series isn’t based on a book or even a true story, as it’s an original concept conceived by creator and showrunner Haley Z. Boston. But we can definitely expect chills and thrills.
The series centers on Rachel and Nicky as they prepare to walk down the aisle and say “I do.” However, when they arrive at Nicky’s family’s vacation home, which is in a location primed for memorable horror movie-esque events, the couple are in for a troublesome lead-up to their wedding. Netflix promises it’s not a spoiler that something bad will happen at their wedding given the title.

Given that the series comes executive producers the Duffer Brothers, viewers can expect some similar elements to be at play in Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. It remains to be seen whether there will be sci-fi or supernatural aspects to the series, but it’s for sure going to be full of twists and turns that we don’t see coming and might even make our skin crawl.
