The Princess of Wales is in Italy this week – as part of her work with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood – to learn more about the country’s acclaimed approach to education.

The royal opted for a smart Edeline Lee suit for the first day’s events, in one of this season’s most in-demand colours: ice blue. She paired it with her favourite Monica Vinader pearl necklace and Annoushka drop earrings.

We also couldn’t help but spy her chic top handle bag, a new 167 bag from British jewellery and leather brand Asprey, in a matching shade of cool blue. It may be the first time we’ve spotted this style on Kate, but it’s by no means her first Asprey bag. She’s worn at least four of its designs over the years.

She’s also not the only royal to have worn designs from the luxury brand, either. In fact, the link between Asprey and the British Royal Family goes as far back as 1862, when Queen Victoria issued it a Royal Warrant. Princess Diana’s iconic Spencer family tiara was an Asprey design. Similarly, the diamond maple leaf brooch worn by both Kate and Queen Elizabeth II, is an Asprey creation commissioned by King George VI for his wife Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1939.

While Kate often incorporates affordable pieces into her wardrobe (Zara, Jigsaw and Hobbs are among her high street favourites), at over £3,000, this bag is unfortunately not one of them.

With its classic top handle design, chic gold tone hardware and sleek front flap closure, it’s a timeless design that would be perfect for the upcoming event season – whether you’re heading to the Chelsea Flower Show, Henley Regatta, British Grand Prix, or even a more relaxed summer garden party.

If, like us, you can’t get this bag out of your head, we have you covered with our lineup of more affordable lookalikes in the edit below.
