A young mum-of-two has been left mortified after realising her toddler daughter’s name was misspelt in a tattoo she had done on her arm.

Katie Benjamin, from Perth, couldn’t stop laughing when she noticed her new tattoo read ‘Arilie’ instead of ‘Airlie’ in a dainty fine-line font.

‘It’s something that would only happen to me, I swear,’ Katie told Daily Mail, laughing.

‘I just didn’t check the spelling beforehand. I even had to pick from two fonts and the size and I sat there and watched the artist tattoo it and I didn’t notice.’

It wasn’t until she left the tattoo shop that she spotted the typo permanently inked on her skin.

‘I was driving home and looked down at my arm and was like “oh my f***ing god” and I just started p***ing myself laughing,’ she said.

She joked that the recent arrival of her second child, a baby boy, was to blame for the tattoo mistake.

‘Major baby brain moment,’ she said.

Fortunately for her, the artist was able to amend the tattoo to reflect the correct spelling of her daughter’s name.

‘I messaged the artist and explained the mistake. I went back in the next day and we fixed it up and had a good laugh about it,’ Katie said.

‘Lucky the script font made it easy to fix up, and now I’ve got a pretty funny story to tell my daughter when she’s older.’

Taking the mishap in her stride, the mum shared a video laughing at the typo.

‘Guys, I just got my tattoo done and I’ve just realised I spelt Airlie’s name wrong,’ she said in disbelief, bursting into laughter.

‘I have my daughter’s name spelt wrong. I have Airlie’s name tattooed on me and it’s spelt wrong. How did I not check the spelling before she did it?’

Struggling to contain her laughter, Katie wiped away her tears as she explained: ‘It’s an easy fix though.’

‘Nothing screams trimester four like a permanent spelling mistake… Tell me you’re sleep deprived without telling me.’

Her video has been viewed more than 115,000 times, with one jokingly suggesting: ‘Right simple, change the kid’s name.’

‘OMG hahahhaha this is iconic,’ another said.

‘YOU DID NOT! I’m actually dying,’ one shared, laughing.

‘Oh my god hahahahahaha I’m sorry but this is hilarious,’ another added.

Katie isn’t the only parent to have made a spelling mistake involving their child’s name.

‘I did this! Six months postpartum and my son’s name wasn’t checked “properly” before starting (tattoo) and it wasn’t small either. Walked straight in and my mum goes, “What have you done?”‘ one said.

‘I spelt my daughter’s name wrong on her birth certificate,’ another confessed.

Meanwhile one mum revealed: ‘My son’s birth date is wrong… Don’t worry though because it’s in Roman numerals so no one knows.’
