Former senator Kyrsten Sinema, who is embroiled in a lawsuit over allegedly seducing her former bodyguard, now wants to see his ex-wife’s therapy records.
The Democratic-turned-independent politician was sued for ‘alienation of affection’ by Heather Ammel, the ex-wife of the lawmaker’s ex-bodyguard.
The complaint, originally filed in North Carolina before it was moved to federal court, alleges that the former Arizona senator seduced Matthew Ammel, later leading to the couple’s divorce.
They were married for 14 years and have three children; they separated in the fall of 2024 and officially divorced in March.
Sinema does not deny her sexual relationship with Matthew Ammel, though she is fighting back against the lawsuit by claiming the couple’s relationship was already coming apart.
The former senator also argues that the tryst never happened in North Carolina while the Ammels were still together. ‘We were physically intimate for the first time,’ in May 2024, while on a work trip to California, Sinema has declared.
Now, Sinema’s legal team subpoenaed Heather Ammel’s therapist for all documents related to her from 2024.
The requested files included notes from the sessions, the dates when Heather Ammel went to therapy, invoices and all communications between the ex-wife and her therapist, the Phoenix New Times reported.

Heather Ammel’s legal team fought the request, arguing that it is outside the scope of the suit and is ‘completely unrelated to the issue of Defendant’s contacts with North Carolina.’
However, they were ‘intimate’ in Arizona, California, New York, and Washington, DC, the ex-senator shockingly reveals.
Sinema’s attorney argued in response that the former senator has a right to see the evidence.
The Ammels had an appointment with the ex-wife’s therapist, Chad Brown, in October 2024, in which the couple discussed the ‘process of separating.’
However, Sinema recently withdrew her subpoena and Heather Ammel withdrew her effort to stymie the request.
According to court documents, the ex-wife has since said she would ‘respond fully’ to the therapy document request and request them herself from Brown before turning them over to the former Senator’s team.
A unique North Carolina law allows for a plaintiff to sue for alienation of affection via ‘wrongful and malicious conduct’, for example, an affair.
According to allegations from the ex-wife in the initial lawsuit, the bisexual Senator asked Ammel to bring the party drug MDMA, also known as ecstasy, with him on work trips in 2023, so that ‘she could guide him through a psychedelic experience.’

The duo also allegedly messaged about having sex missionary style with the lights on, something Sinema stated was ‘Boring!’
Sinema asked Matthew Ammel to remove his wedding ring ‘so it wouldn’t look like she was putting her hands on a married man when they were out at concerts,’ the lawsuit claims.
