Mark Wahlberg looked totally unrecognizable as he appeared in the new trailer for his mob action film By Any Means.

The actor, 55, who portrays mafia hitman Greg Scarpa, completely transformed his appearance with facial prosthetics.

He sported a noticeably larger nose, a fuller chin and a dark brown wig worn in a 1960s style with thick sideburns.

However, Wahlberg’s famously muscular physique was left unchanged and frequently displayed in a white tank top in the action-packed trailer released on Wednesday.

In the film, Wahlberg’s Scarpa teams up with a young FBI agent, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, to ‘solve the murder of a civil rights activist in 1966 Mississippi.’

By Any Means was shot on location in Atlanta, Georgia in spring of last year.

The film, which is based on a true story, is set in the 1960s in the south during the Civil Rights Movement.

The movie follows the notorious mafia hitman Scarpa, who is portrayed by Wahlberg, who was hired by Hoover’s FBI off-the-books and partnered with a young Black special agent to hunt down those responsible for the murders of civil rights leaders in 1966 Mississippi.

J. Edgar Hoover expanded the FBI into a larger crime-fighting agency during that time.

The star-studded cast also includes The Morning Show’s Nicole Beharie, five-time Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito, Palm Royale alum Josh Lucas, Oscar nominee David Strathairn and many more. Ethan Embry, LisaGay Hamilton and LaChanze are also a part of the ensemble.

Photos of Wahlberg looking unrecognizable on the set of the film last year quickly went viral online.

Wahlberg’s willingness to alter his hunky appearance came a little over a year after he shockingly revealed he had scaled back his grueling daily workout routine.

The change came just a few months after he shared a now-viral video of himself shirtless after waking up at four in the morning for his hearty early morning breakfast.

At the time, he explained that he has been eating the same meal for four months, which consists of pork chops, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon.

Back in 2018, he used to share his baffling daily routine, which included waking up at 2:30 a.m. so he could fit in at least two meals and multiple workouts all before 10 in the morning.

Six years on, he spoke out against the punishing routine, which he said he started doing to prepare for physical movie roles, and admitted it was ‘so extreme.’

He said he wished he had realized this sooner as he’d ‘have another 15-year run at doing more physical movies.’
