Who is Kaleedre Andrew?

An 11-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister armed themselves with a kitchen knife and a rolling pin to fight off two teenagers who allegedly broke into their home.

Kaleedre Andrew and another teenager allegedly broke into Tarneit’s home in west Melbourne at around 5am. m. on Christmas Eve 2021.

Andrew pleaded guilty to charges including carjacking and breaking and entering at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Investigation

Kaleedre Andrew  and another teenager allegedly broke into Tarneit’s home in west Melbourne at 5am. m. on December 24, 2021.

A police summary alleged that the couple approached a woman in her bed and demanded that she hand over her car keys.

The woman’s eldest daughter confronted the couple and allegedly pushed her to the ground and “stomped on” her head, the Herald Sun reported.

Her 11-year-old brother and eight-year-old sister fought off the suspected intruders with a knife and rolling pin, forcing them to flee.

The police summary alleged that the pair got away in a vehicle with a third person before police gave chase, crashed the car into a power pole, and they were arrested.

Lead Agent Hayden Chalmers said the home invasion traumatized the family and one of the children had slept with a knife under his pillow ever since.

“Everyone is completely traumatized … They are absolutely terrified,” he said, calling the home invasion the worst he had ever seen.

Andrew pleaded guilty to charges including motor vehicle theft and breaking and entering at Melbourne Magistrates Court  on Friday.

Andrew appeared via video link in court with his parents sitting on either side of him.

He told police that he was impaired by alcohol, marijuana and Xanax that morning and that his memory was “fuzzy.”

He pleaded guilty in exchange for having the aggravated trespassing charges dropped and will face court for a pre-sentence hearing on August 22.

A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were denied bail when they previously faced Juvenile Court.
