Ashanti Smith, from West Sussex, passed away on Saturday July 17 after living with the ultra-rare premature aging condition Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome, which saw her turn eight for every year of her life.

The teenager’s mother, Phoebe Louise Smith, paid tribute to her “bright and determined” daughter, who refused to allow the disease to affect her “loud and beautiful” spirit.

Even though her body was the equivalent of a 144-year-old woman when she passed away, Ashanti could still enjoy turning 18 in May by going out at night and drinking her favorite cocktail.

The teenager died with her mother, father Shaine Wickens, 33, and a family friend, Kayleigh Cartwright, 25, by her side, and some of her last words to her mother were ‘you have to let me go’.wikipedia

She didn’t affect her heart, her willpower or the way she felt about herself, she felt beautiful every day. I made sure of it every day.

Phoebe continued: ‘Everyone loved and adored that girl. She touched her hearts so much with her willpower. ‘

Ashanti had recently enjoyed her first girls’ night out after turning 18 and having her favorite cocktail, S*x on the Beach, with Phoebe and her friends.

Her mother insists that despite her dire condition, she was determined to be treated like any other adolescent.

Phoebe said, ‘She was louder, louder than me, and I’m a very loud person.

There are photos of the first identification of her. We all take her to pubs, all the girls and me. We took her to three pubs three weeks ago.

She got drunk and loved it. Her favorite drink was S*x on the Beach.

‘His condition of hers affected her mobility to walk that far. She had a broken hip and had to reattach it three times, then finally she came back out of it and she just walked on with a broken hip.

That girl, my little girl, did not get into a stroller. Either she would be carried or walked.

‘You asked her if she wanted a drink, she would say’ I’ll get it, why are you treating me differently? ‘She was very strong.

She did not affect her will. Obviously, she affected her mobility and she had heart disease. ‘

Family friend Kayleigh Cartwright, 25, who was with Phoebe when her daughter passed away last weekend, also shared a tribute to Ashanti.

She said: ‘His condition of hers did not affect her [mentally] at all. She was just normal. She was like any other child.

‘To be with her, she was like everyone else.

“She [On the outside] she was 100 and on the inside, 18.”

Tragically, the day she died Ashanti started like any other, with Phoebe explaining: ‘[The day she died] she was walking, taking KFC, walking in the park, absolutely fine. Then she came suddenly and lasted about half an hour. ”

Phoebe said her daughter was ‘loud’ and went out for drinks with friends and family less

Kayleigh added: ‘It was very disturbing. She had been feeling a little sick. Shaine brought her home because she said she loved her mother, [then her condition worsened].

Meanwhile, Phoebe continued, “She struggled but she said ‘Mom, I love you. You have to let me go. ”

On Monday, the family paid tribute to Ashanti, with Phoebe explaining: ‘We put 150 helium balloons in it and a £ 400 fireworks display, then we will make 300 lanterns.

‘Her condition gave him arthritis, and she gave him heart disease and heart failure. She passed away from heart failure and natural causes. ‘Now her friends and family have launched a JustGiving page to help fund the ‘biggest and brightest send-off in history’ by promising the plan a ‘party’ to celebrate her life.

And the distraught mother of four has shared details of her daughter’s funeral, which she hopes will include four white horses, feathers, Pride flags, and memorabilia from BTS, because Ashanti was a huge fan of the K-Pop band.

Now her friends have launched a JustGiving page to help collectively fund the ‘biggest and brightest send-off in history’, promising that the plan will be a ‘party’ to celebrate her life.

Phoebe said: ‘The funeral will be gay and BTS [themed]. She has four pure white horses, with gay feathers and flags and BTS posters.

The coffins of her will have BTS around it and at the top will be my four children and I with homos*xual shirts.

Calling her daughter “too strong”, Phoebe revealed that she “would not get in a buggy” and that she was determined to walk despite her ailmnets.

‘It’s going to be a party. She has a wide screen with playing videos and because she cursed a lot, there is going to be a bleeper. Everyone who watches the video will laugh a lot.

Ashanti was very proud to be gay. She was the proudest girl and embraced the gay community. She loved it, and BTS did.

She has around £ 5,000 worth of BTS items in her room, which will always stay there. I’ll put a lock on her door and let the kids sit there.

‘It’s all BTS and homosexuality and I love it.’
