First Meeting and Relationship with James Comey
Both Patrice and James studied at William and Mary College in Williamsburg and met when they were freshmen. Almost immediately after the first encounter, the two became a couple. Their relationship lasted through the college, and has been on-going ever since.
Popularity Through Marriage
We might have never heard about Patrice if it wasn’t for James, as she owes much of her quasi-celebrity status to her husband. The couple married in 1987, and soon afterwards welcomed their first child. Since then, Patrice has given birth to five more children, one of whom passed away within a few days. They have five daughters, Abby, Claire, Brien, Kate, and Maurene. The Comey family resides in Westport, Connecticut on an estate valued at over $3 million.
Family Tragedy
In 1995, Patrice gave birth to the couple’s son; he weighed 7 pounds and 6 ounces and was a healthy baby. However, his health rapidly worsened, and he was taken into the intensive care and put on a respirator. Unfortunately, he contracted a bacterial infection and soon after passed away in Patrice’s arms as she sang him lullabies, just nine days following his birth. Patrice and James claimed that the infection was curable, and according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, their son Colin died from a Group B strep infection.
