Australian-born Hollywood movie star Eric Bana is making another movie on home ground.

The hunky 54-year-old is currently in Victoria shooting a sequel to the local hit film The Dry, which scored an impressive $22 million at the Australian box office in 2021.

The new film, called Force of Nature, is another murder mystery and like The Dry, it’s based on a bestselling novel from Jane Harper and will be again directed by Robert Connolly.

Eric will once more play Aaron Falk, the dogged detective fans know from The Dry.

This time, the sleuth heads into high country to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a corporate whistleblower played by Anna Torv (Netflix’s Mindhunter) who goes missing on a corporate hiking trip.

Amongst the prime suspects in the case are Lucy Ansell (Utopia), Homeland’s Robin McLeavy, Sisi Stringer from Mortal Combat and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole star, Deborah-Lee Furness.

Also featured in the cast are Jacqueline McKenzie (Halifax:Retribution), as a Federal agent, and beloved star of ABC’s Rake, Richard Roxburgh.

Force of Nature will be filmed on locations in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, the Otways and the Dandnong Ranges and is produced by Sydney company Made Up Stories with Connolly’s Arenamedia and Bana’s Pick Up Truck Pictures.

The production makes another collaboration between Eric and his friend and colleague, producer-director Robert Connolly.

The pair, who share an office in Melbourne, recently made an adaptation of Tim Winton’s hit novella, Blueback, in Western Australia.

The film, made for a young audience, also stars fellow Australian actresses, Mia Wasikowska and Radha Mitchell and newcomers Ariel Donoghue and Ilsa Fogg.

The film tells the story of Abby (in Tim’s novella it’s a boy named Abel), who befriends a giant groper [a fish] while diving and becomes an activist.

Mia is set to play the titular character while Ariel and Ilsa are set to portray the younger versions of the character.
