Denise Richards opened up about her decision to join OnlyFans during an interview with KTLA that was shared on Wednesday.
The 51-year-old actress spoke about how she moved past her initial reservations about the platform and noted that she fully supported its dedication to the preservation of creators’ integrity.
The performer’s interview took place just a few weeks after her daughter Sami Sheen, aged 18, received much attention for starting her own account on the service.

Richards began the sit-down by expressing that she was aware of the ramifications of the actions of her child, whom she shares with former husband Charlie Sheen, and that she previously did not know very much about the platform.
‘My daughter got a lot of backlash for opening the account. I had heard of OnlyFans but I wasn’t educated on what OnlyFans was,’ she said.
The Starship Troopers actress pointed out that she was particularly impressed by the service’s setup.
‘Once I started to learn about it, I really think that the creators of the site really took the best of every platform of social media and put it into one site,’ she said.

Richards went on to favorably compare the service to another major social media outlet.
‘We all post pictures with ourselves with bathing suits on Instagram and some of the other sites that there’s no difference other than you actually own the content,’ she said.
The performer also noted that Sami’s reaction to her mother joining OnlyFans was ‘positive.’

Sami previously made headlines when she joined OnlyFans last month, and she subsequently shared a promotional image to her Instagram account.
Sheen, 56, initially voiced his disapproval of his daughter’s actions and shared a statement through his publicist, where he expressed via Fox News that she was primarily residing with Richards.
He pointed out: ‘This did not occur under my roof. I do not condone this, but since I’m unable to prevent it, I urged her to keep it classy, creative and not sacrifice her integrity.’

Richards subsequently released a statement in support of her child on her Instagram account, where she pointed out that she previously posed for publications such as Wild Things and Playboy.
The performer added: ‘I have to say I wish I had the confidence my 18 yr old daughter has.’
Sheen later changed his mind about Sami’s decision and publicly expressed his support for her actions.
