Police have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of an 11-year-old schoolgirl.
The youngster was reported missing from Galashiels, Scotland, on Sunday evening, sparking a desperate search over the weekend involving police and volunteers.
She was found at a property ‘safe and well’ in the town at about 9.30pm the following day.
On Tuesday, Police Scotland said a 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her disappearance.
In a statement, the force said: ‘A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl from Galashiels, who was reported missing on Sunday, February 5 2023.

‘The girl was traced at a property in the Galashiels area around 9.30pm on Monday February 6.
‘Inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.’
Pictures taken today have shown officers outside a property in the Galashiels area, with blue and white police tape have blocked off the road.
Speaking earlier today. a neighbour told the Scottish Sun: ‘The police turned up last night.
‘We were told it was something to do with a missing girl but I didn’t see anyone coming or going.
‘It’s very worrying to have this here, especially as a father of two young kids myself.’
Galashiels is a small town in the Scottish Borders with a population of about 12,600.
