Counter-terrorism officers are examining death threats which were allegedly sent from a banned neo-Nazi group to a black academic and transgender journalist.
Dr Shola Mos-Shogbaminu took to Twitter with one of the menacing letters from ‘National Action London cell’, which mentioned her close relatives by name along with a threat to kill her family unless she left the country.
The author of the hand-delivered letter launched into a vicious diatribe against Dr Mos-Shogbaminu, who regularly comments on social justice issues in the UK, and warned her family was being watched.
Broadcaster India Willoughby, 57, who appears on ITV‘s Good Morning Britain, revealed she had also received a letter from National Action, The Times reports.
She said the racist group were ‘threatening to kill me because I’m trans’.

Ms Willoughby added that the message had been dropped off at her accountant’s office and is now with police.
Scotland Yard announced that its counterterror command is now leading an investigation due to the nature of the letters and ‘potential involvement of a proscribed group’.
It described the message to Ms Willoughby as containing ‘vile and transphobic’ language.
The force added: ‘The letters are said to be from “National Action London Cell”. Officers have contacted the victims to request statements and offer our full support.’
Dr Mos-Shogbaminu authored the book This is Why I Resist and came to public attention as the Black Lives Matters made waves in the UK in 2020.

Speaking of the letter, Dr Mos-Shogbaminu said: ‘I have received “a serious threat from National Action London” notifying me of their “intention to kill” me and my family. They name my husband and home address’
It states: ‘You are a constant troublemaker and liar who appears on television frequently.
‘You are somebody who should never be allowed to breathe our air and take up space in our country.’
Speaking of the letter, Dr Mos-Shogbaminu said: ‘I have received “a serious threat from National Action London” notifying me of their “intention to kill” me and my family. They name my husband and home address.
‘They don’t consider killing me “murder” they call it an “execution”. This letter was through my front door. This is Britain.’
Established in 2013, National Action became the first far-right organisation to be banned in Britain under the Terrorism Act 2016.
Among many racist offences, it was found to have ‘promoted and encouraged acts of terrorism’ after the murder of MP Jo Cox, the Home Office stated at the time.
