Kane Marcus had been driving on his way to work when he spotted the crocodile near Gunbalanya, in the Northern Territory, last Tuesday.

Marcus stepped out of his small truck to take a photo with the dangerous animal standing just metres away from him.

Mr Marcus defiantly continues to film the animal on his phone as it changes course and takes a bite out of the tyre on his trailer.

‘Brus, that’s wicked,’ the friend says off-camera.

Mr Marcus jumps on the back of his small truck and follows the crocodile as it walks behind his vehicle.

He precariously stands over the edge to snap a photo on his phone with nothing but the length of the rusty trailer keeping him safe.

Mr Marcus and his friend finally managed to snap a photo next to the crocodile as it stood still on the other side of the road.

Footage of the close encounter has acted as a reminder of the dangerous nature of the animals and the recommendation residents do not approach them.

In June, a pub owner went viral after banging a frying pan over the head of a crocodile.

The wild moment was captured on camera at the Goat Island lodge in the Northern Territory with Kai Hansen refusing to back down from the charging 2.5m reptile.

Two strikes on the nose was enough for the trouble-making croc to turn around and race back to the water.

Across Australia there are believed to be over 100,000 full sized crocodiles in the wild with the largest population found in the Northern Territory.

Male crocodiles can reach a staggering 3.3m in length while females can grow as long as 2.3m.

The bite of a crocodile is incredibly powerful with their bite force coming in at 3,700 PSI.

PSI is an abbreviation for ‘pounds per square inch’ and the term is used as a unit of measurement to determine the bite force of animals.
