A tradesman is lucky to be alive after coming within metres of a giant crocodile while trying to take a photo with it on the side of the road.
Kane Marcus had been driving on his way to work when he spotted the crocodile near Gunbalanya, in the Northern Territory, last Tuesday.
Marcus stepped out of his small truck to take a photo with the dangerous animal standing just metres away from him.

Mr Marcus defiantly continues to film the animal on his phone as it changes course and takes a bite out of the tyre on his trailer.
‘Brus, that’s wicked,’ the friend says off-camera.
Mr Marcus jumps on the back of his small truck and follows the crocodile as it walks behind his vehicle.
He precariously stands over the edge to snap a photo on his phone with nothing but the length of the rusty trailer keeping him safe.
Mr Marcus and his friend finally managed to snap a photo next to the crocodile as it stood still on the other side of the road.

Footage of the close encounter has acted as a reminder of the dangerous nature of the animals and the recommendation residents do not approach them.
